I kid you not, OP. I will drive to Montreal right now and pick up your Camaro.
The only way you're ever going to go "green" is if you get rid of all your cars, your house, your clothes, and ride a bicycle and live in the forest. Have fun with that.

Your car is in no way responsible for the oil spill. BUT, if you want to feel like sh*t about it anyway, go ahead. Just don't expect us sane people to relate.

Green is happening with you or without you. It just makes sense. And by most any definition, a 426hp motor that gets 24mpg on the highway is a very green thing.

Just a bit of advice. You're not gonna convince anyone on this forum of anything. I respect what you're doing and its admirable to possible give up something you care so much about. Remember this is the internet.. its pointless to argue with anyone here lol.

Wow, lots of tough guys in this thread.
I'll say this, we should absolutely be switching off of oil. I'm sorry tough buys, but sometime in the future you're camaro is going to have an electric motor. But don't worry, that'll still be decades away. Realistically we don't have the ability to switch to electric cars right now. I've done a lot of research on the EV topic and come to find out that if electric cars like the Volt and Leaf become popular (still less than 5% of global sales) we'll run out of lithium for the batteries in 2020. Then there's the whole 'it's a really toxic process to mine the lithium and process it into material that could be used for batteries' thing. We could probably recover most of the lithium in the car battery packs if they were recycled, so that may extend the 2020 date, but no one knows for sure how much we could reuse since we're not testing it yet. We need a kind of battery revolution for electric cars to become plausible, and it'll take a few decades but then we'll get it. For now we can all help by trying to use less gas (the recession sure helps) - by yourself you don't make a difference, but as a whole we can do a lot.

Send me an email with your contact info. I'll take some pictures and send them to you. It has about 7,000 kilometers on it. Not winter driven of course, and all original (no mods of any kind). The left back wheel has a scratch though (I scraped it against a curb). I own the car outright (no financing or lease) so I could be ready to make a deal. |

It's all good. Just a friendly talk about energy. I do believe we need something new ,but only so we don't have to get our energy from people that don't like us. To me the "geen" energies that we have today are just a political ploy. There are other things that would work better that are not popular so they don't invest in them. I'm in the energy business and can see first hand how this game works. It's all about power and money and not saving our enviroment.

Not sure about this... the infrastructure required is huge, and the carbon footprint to make Hydrogen is huge too. Are we really trading up if we go to Hydrogen? (President Bush was behind it so I'm pretty sure there's a little Haliburton reach-around going on there somewhere..) |
