My beige top looks like someone burned it with a cigarette. I asked here once why black tops had white marks and beige tops had black marks. It seems more noticeable on a beige top! Mine showed up with 1200 miles on the clock!

I think I understood about 5 words said, but here are my take-aways:
  1. The CAMARO is destined for spinners... FAIL
  2. Wonder if Garfield will get to go in the CAMARO... WTF was that?
  3. Where's the roof? Where did the roof go? Transformed.

In all seriousness, however, I had the same light approximately quarter-sized spot on my passenger side when I got her home brand new and I buffed it out. Since then, she's only been handwashed and chamois dried - no soap on the top(!) and have driven approximately 1,750 of my 1,900 miles with the top down. Shorter distances (5-10 miles) without the tonneau cover affixed, longer distance or highway speeds with the tonneau on.

She's been sitting unmoved in the carport for the past 3-4 weeks but I sure as heck keep checking that top...so far, so good.
Baba, same here. My roof has only been hand-washed and leaf-blower dried, and 303 protectant applied. Light soap on the top only. May apply 303 again in a few weeks (spring), or switch to Ragg Top. So far 1,976 miles no marks. Not bragging, just sayin', as I could easily be next. But marks or not, God is this car fun to drive! Looks, noise, power, smell, and yes, 2x the fuel economy of "classic" muscle! I know, I've owned (and fed) a '74 Chevy 454 thirsty thirsty hippo. And I haven't even pushed this one over 4k RPM yet (I know, wimpy!). Waiting 'till after the 1st oil change in April.

So you're saying that the black mark is a rub mark? I'd love to see a picture of that.

Better than the Mustang? I scream BS. I have not seen nor heard of one new Mustang top rubbing through within the first month of ownership.

Now that I think about it.. That is a true statement. Although they have been producing those tops for quite sometime now. Perhaps General Motors just needs a bit of time to iron out the kinks.

Noobie here. Just bought a 2012 2SS/RS M6 vert right after Christmas. Drove it home from the dealer and put it in the garage (December in Michigan is NOT convertible weather!). We had one warm day so I backed it out of the garage and cleaned up some of the dealer's tire shine that got speckled all over the paint and I thought "I'll put the top down just to see how it operates and how it looks". Put the top back up and what do you know? 5th bow is broken. I haven't even driven it yet except for the ride home from the dealer. 64 "top-up miles" on it and I put the top down once, didn't even drive it with the top down and now it's broken. So that's why I'm here on this site. I read this entire thread and there's tons of good info here. Some very scarey and some a little encouraging. I guess my first real question is:

1. Just confirming - does the 5th bow replacement require that the top be removed? And if so, for those that have had the 5th bow replaced, did you have any issues with the top after that? Wind noise, top fitment, etc.

2. Any more information about a January fix for the wear marks?
