Some of it may work. There will probably many highlights of OS 5 that just wont work, voice and gesture control to be two of them. Most Android OS are built to incorporate many of the previous versions just so that Apps will work. I also read the OS is pretty taxing on the memory, so it would be pretty laggy I think.

I also found that the new Google Android Auto group has built the official first car stereo picked up by a major brand name, Clarion. Interesting enough it runs on Android 2.3.4, which is what we first had. It also uses iGo for navigation.

So what HICES put together is a tad more advanced, but I would wonder if the Clarion is bug free.

My guess is no.

It really is a shame about the kinks in this unit. It seems like every time I find a deal breaker problem on this unit has gotten fixed, I hear about another one. Right now, steering wheel controls not working 100% is the thing holding me back.

Anyone interested in buying my system? I'm trading in the camaro and returning it to stock. I know this isn't the right place to advertise this but just figured I would let everyone know

PM sent Luis. I'm really leaning toward this system.

I really just want it for Nav and Music because I like the way the system looks stock. Will I have any issues with just that?

So I contacted Lim and to a somewhat delight and let down, they fixed some stuff. Not the steering wheel control yet and not the Temperature on the menu bar. But changed the HVAC control to Fahrenheit, made 3D icons for his apps, looks like he cracked Torque pro and made it available on his system (I already paid), added City Guide and Navitel (not of interest to me and they take up lots of memory.)

Gonna email him back about the other temperature, power problems (which I dont have anymore since I fixed the loose connection on a fog light) and steering wheel controls. Below are some pictures of what the icons looks like now and how they pop up.

And hopefully sometime tomorrow I will have the upgrade in Dropbox to send out to anyone rather than trying to download from his site.

Cool. Did he say anything about the steering wheel controls? If I know they're trying to get them working, I'll order the system. If not, well....

Does anyone have this hooked up to the stock BA system? Do I need anything else besides the unit itself?

TIA.

I had it hooked up to the stock BA SYSTEM and didn't need anything unless you want to use the shark fin antenna vs the one provided

Im currently sending my unit back to him to fix the BT issue I'm having. I do have to say he has been extremely helpful and always willing to answer your questions.

So he replied back. That's it for steering wheel control, won't be able to initiate a call. For the temperature on the menu bar, no, have to download an app and use widget.

Power issue was fixed with the latest upgrade.

I'll keep pressing but might have to wait for something newer to come along

So he says the power issue is fixed with the new upgrade? Is that the Russian version you had? Because I had upgraded to that and it still shut off when turning the car on sometimes
