I like clean
![]() I believe the client, but suspect there was some abuse before the used part were installed on his car. That is the challenge we face with all warranty claims. Not that the parts was abused and should we warranty it, but what really happened. Say a client reports a bent clevis on a strut or coilover on a Sunday drive. If that is really the case, we need to recall parts and re-engineer them. If the client reports the same failure and says I was on a road course, turned into a lawn mower and bounced through a drainage ditch we'll work out a solution and get them back on track. Jim can weigh in on this, but I suspect that even with franchised new car dealers a company like GM gets warranty claims that have engineers scratching their heads. The money that is spent in failure analysis for inaccurate or falsely reported claims in an issue. This is how we handle those situations. I'll get on the phone and talk with the client. I tell them not to worry, we'll cover the part under warranty or good will, but I need to know more. Before we spend a lot of money on failure analysis, is the warranty report I am looking at accurate? Once they know they are off the hook, it is like truth serum. In this case, we'll never know because the part was used. We are confident in the design, function and in field service record. There is not a single remotely similar failure report in North America, the middle East or Europe. |

Pete, I hope you're feeling good about the whole deal, because the folks who know you have the HIGHEST degree of trust in you and your products.
With complete certainty I would drive anything you gave your blessing to at the bleeding edge of the envelope. ========== On a completely different subject, the folks at G5 Concepts (remember them - the Hideaway Headlight Grill) have finally gotten into production. The faithful for that product have had to have the patience of saints, but the final result does look nice. Here is a pic & vid. ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=laXFFyIJfxM

Highly understandable. I just saw my first 2014 SS in white. Looks very good. The rear looks much better than the pictures show it to be. I know why...the pictures are way too close up making the rear appear much much larger than it is. It actually looks lower than the 2010-13, which is good.

They are stunning, aren't they?
The combination of pure sex on wheels, performance and price point is drawing in quite a few 5th Gen owners. That leads me to my 6th Gen thoughts. 1. The aggressive jump in styling from the C6 t C7 has me thinking we'll see a similar jump in 6th Gen design. That is a leap from earlier Camaro TEAM comments. 2. The performance benchmarks of the new Vette raise the bar for the 6th Gen. Does that mean the 6th Gen LT V8 in what I am guessing is a SS will equal the performance of the C6 with an LS3? 3. Assuming (never a good thing) the SS performance envelope is equal to or greater than the C6 LS3 then the ZL1 or Z/28 upgrade would put the 6th Gen in C6 Z06 range. If these ifs turn out to be close to reality how does this impact sales of the Z/28 or does it. Discuss. |

I wouldn't be at all surprized that a Gen-6 Camaro SS may house a sporty-tuned near-400 hp 5.3...
...which leaves the LT1 for something Zpecial... Just a hunch... ![]() Re: customer assistance, you're right Pete; "No GOOD deed goes unpunished", but it also isn't necessarily "unrewarded"... |

What I recall from previous Z/28 discussions, we may not see a 6thGen Z/28 for the first several years of the 6thGen Camaro....It may be a tail-end thing like it is for the 5thGen....The '14 Z/28 uses up what "tools they had in the tool-box" available....
May be the same scenario for the 6thGen Z/28.... 6th Gen CamaroSS....lighter weight...more hp,,,,will be a beast for sure....Maybe need to see what pans out with CAFE and all that before a 6thGen Z/28 shows up... (In case you weren't sure, officially I don't know beans......lol....) |
