Some new times from the Super Chevy Show Test N Tune back on April 12th. I left tires near stock PSI this time since I wasn't sure how much I'd be running and knew it'd be cold later that night. Needed to make sure my tires could drive okay in the cooler weather.

Temps went from 70's to about low 50's/high 40's by end of night. I stopped running when it got around low 60's, high 50's because the track wasn't keeping warm with the dramatic drop and for about an hour track was shut down due to a biker crash.

Refresher of my car mods and such. My mods are trifecta tune, rx catch can, and rx breather. I use only 93 octane gas from shell and mobil 1 synthetic oil. I have stock RS 20" P-Zeros. I weighed my car this time. I weighed in at 4000 lbs even. The car follows a strict maintenance schedule for the rear diff fluid, chevron techron, cleaning of the rx breather, and oil changes.

I tried different launching methods this time. Leaving at idle RPM, 1200 RPM, 1500 RPM, 2000 RPM. Traction control on and off. Turning traction off after launching and tires grabbing.

I almost beat a near stock generation 4 mustang gt. The only mods he had were short throw, what looked to be a straight pipe exhaust and catless, and I believe he said an intake. At launch we were close and I was slightly ahead of him until the end when he suddenly started to pull ahead.

Here are my best runs from the event:

R/T: .579
60': 2.116
330: 6.019
1/8: 9.228
MPH: 77.21
1000: 11.989

1/4: 14.336
E.T.: 96.08

Below is my run against the gen4 mustang gt. I am on the left, he is on the right. He was a real cool guy and fun to talk to. Look forward to my run against him now that I have a CAI intake

R/T: .338________R/T: .210
60': 2.146_______60': 2.365
330: 6.050_______330: 6.221

1000: 12.035_____1000: 12.042

1/4: 14.394_______1/4: 14.307
E.T.: 95.55________E.T.: 99.44

The last two times I am sharing are my runs against a 2011 V6 Camaro from my club. He too is a SIM, lol. He has hypertech tune (he works for them and his grandfather owns the business), weight reduction, borla s-type catback, K&N intake, and lighter rims with P-Zeros. He does have big subs in the back though so not sure how much it affects him. He also had a full tank of gas and don't think he runs premium.

Finally did a few nitrous passes this weekend. Stock tires ( 20" Pirelli PZero ) do not like the spray so traction was an issue in 1st and 2nd.

Wow, you guys have really given me hope.

Just got my 2012 1LT.....A6, stock 19" Pirelli's. If I can tick off 14.3-14.6's, I would be thrilled!! That is a great starting point.

I run 14.30@98 mph before I got my CAI but with GMPP mufflers ( no tune yet) and premium gas.
Go out have fun. I will be posting some videos from the track with my car soon on youtube. Search "ETMX193" I have some other videos from my Turbo Busa and remote planes also on there.

Pony Wars May 12th - Valdosta, GA

OK Guys,

Here is a new one - I'll post the slip later today. It was my last pass at 5:30PM and it was 82*F.

Tires used on the pass: Nitto 420S, 285mm rears
Performance Mods (if any): Vararam, MRT V2, Rx Black Ice, BMR c'arms
Transmission: M6
Category submitted for:
R/T.......... .996
60'............. 2.173
330'........... 6.144
660'........... 9.350
660’ mph... 76.61
1000'.......... 12.106
1320'.......... 14.381
1320’ mph… 100.76
Name of the track: S. GA Motorsports Park
Date of pass: 5/12/2012
Weather conditions - DA - 1758

DA corrected pass - 14.095 @ 102.847

My 60' time is a little better, but what can I do to break into the 13's????

Don't get me wrong, I'm not too mad with the pass, but I really was hoping for better times this go around. You see the minimal mods I have, what should be the next ones? Will the Trifecta tune help my manual? As always, thanks for the insights.

Very nice run for those temps. I'm betting the track prep was pretty bad by the end of the day. Did they reprep it not long before your run? If not, then I think that would have some affect. You might look at getting some NT05s for just the track. What tire pressure where you running front and rear. Have you done any suspension mods besides the control arms? The reason I ask is that your 60' is still a bit higher than I would expect. If you get that down to 2.0 you would probably run 14.0-14.1 in those conditions and correct down into the 13s. Bushings and stickier tires should get you there.

Thanks 3G

Suspension is completely stock other than control arms. All the bracket races were done and they had a 30min final test and tune sesh, so prob not best track prep conditions. I have SS springs and sways sitting in my house, but dont think those would help the 1/4 would they?

I ran 40psi front and rear.

I follow what you are saying about the 60', that seems to be my Achilles heel right now...

Keep the 40psi up front but drop the rears to about 28 psi. The rear sways from an SS would be a help, but I'd stick with the stock fronts for drag racing or get some adjustable ones. I'm not sure about the springs. You want the rear to squat so you get more weight distributed to the back at launch. Seems like the heaver springs would prevent that. The bigger sway and control arms should help you plant the tires better. You might also think about the differential bushings, too.
