Hey Guys,

I went to one of our local (popular) Atlanta area performance shops to take advantage of a special they are offering on a header & tune package. The offer includes headers, cats and x-pipe with a dyno tune.

They advertised 55RWHP with the tune so I thought the $1995 was good deal. But, when I picked up the car I only had a 31RWHP improvement. Their excuse was that every car is different and things like weather can have a negative impact and there is basically nothing they can do about the loss in RWHP from what they had advertised.

I had a discussion with them about how I was not happy to pay for 55RWHP and end up with only 31RWHP. I'm still not happy but I thought I would post the following question to get input from people that know a lot more than I do about this stuff.

Do you think 31RWHP is acceptable after installing the racing headers and exhaust and having a dyno tune? Am I out of line not being happy? should I be happy with what I got?

Thanks,

What brand headers did you get?

Also, I'd say 31RWHP is about right as it does vary from what i have seen. They claim between 30-50 WHP so I'm just gonna say they threw out the 55WHP number to lure you in hoping for the best.

$2000 just sounds high to me...especially if it's a "special" but if you got $1400 headers then that'll be about right.

A headers and tune package I would expect about 40whp pickup. Exhaust really gains nothing...maybe 3-5 HP. On a 1LE some of your reading on the dyno might be getting reduced from the 3.91 gear as I have seen that eat up HP on a dyno sheet. 31whp gains on a warm day doesn't surprise me.

They are American Racing Headers and exhaust. They are advertising 30 to 55RWHP now. They changed the ad the day I was there.

Thanks for the feedback guys! it sounds like maybe I shouldn't be too upset about the horsepower gain I got. Maybe its just that I paid $2000 for what I thought was going to be 55RWHP and I didn't get it. $2000 seems high but worth it for 55RWHP, maybe not for 31RWHP.

I got 15RWHP from the CAI cold air induction I put on a few months ago. So have a combined 46RWHP gain over factory which buts me at 416RWHP total on the latest dyno.

Don't AR headers go for about $1800? If so pretty good tune price. Where did you go? Pm me if you prefer.

Yeah well that's a good price for the headers you got!

How does the butt dyno feel?

You probably said this already but did you get headers and a cat back? If so that's sounds about right for the price. as for the hp gains I'm not sure
