which adds to the confusion. And I checked the fuel economy on the supercharged 6.2's, they wouldn't be that high.

I believe that ad had nothing to do with GM.

LOL! That would likely be one of the biggest bubbles to be burst on this site (in a good way), LOL! I'm not going to bite on that yet though. There is like only one or two, ever, images caught of this car, isn't there?

I didn't look, but aren't the SC'd 6.2s running like high teens to low 20s on the freeway? Between us, I would've figured it'd be higher than that, but I know these EPA ratings are pretty conservative... Anyhoo, I was confused by those figures too.

As you're aware, Chevrolet is encouraging the SS strategy with cars such as the HHR SS and Cobalt SS. Consistent with this strategy, we have a Camaro SS."

What he said ! The article quotes the Camaro marketing manager herself, I have seen another article quoting a GM manager stating the Z28 will not materialize due to constraints.....look for it 6th Gen maybe.

I am totally miffed at the reluctance to accept the 430 ponies offered in the SS with the current trim level, the body design, and performance suspension. WHat in the heck would you do on the streets with 550 plus HP !?? Heck, take of the SS emblems and slap some Z28 insignia...there you go.....gidderdone.

I forget the city, but highway was 20 on the ZR1, 18 on the CTS-V. The Z06 is 24 I think

But we're probably reading waaaay too much into this.

Let me ask you what gives you the right to tell anyone what is enough? If I have the money and where withall, why can't I buy what I want? I, personally, haven't bashed the SS or the V6 for the power they produce. Maybe it's because I'm used to the 400 horsepower that my '02 puts out now, that makes me crave more. I don't tell anyone what they should or should not buy, nor do I think it appropriate for anyone to dictate to me. If you use your money for your car, I don't have a problem with that; and I expect the same respect. I'm planning on cruising my car and taking it to the 1320'; that's where I plan on spending my 550+ horse. If it's easy enough for you to do what you propose, good for you. Allow the rest of us power-hungry junkies to get our fix if we have the means.

What if we're all wrong about the LSA and they have a DI V8 for it?

we are accepting the 400+ hp in the SS. but we want a GT500 killer.

GM cares what they call it. to some, the Z28 is just an extra option package, to others its a whole new car, but there is a long history with the Camaro and the Z28 package. GM has already stated that they dont want to build a car that wouldnt be worthy of the Z28 moniker.
