Here's a clip from the manual, page 9-35:

While in M(Manual Mode), the
transmission will prevent shifting to
a lower gear if the engine speed is
too high. If the tap down − (Minus)
button is held while the vehicle
slows down, the M in the DIC will
flash, and the downshift will be
allowed when vehicle speed is low
enough. Continuing to hold the tap
down − (Minus) button will not cause
the transmission to continue
downshifting. Each downshift must
be requested separately by
releasing and reapplying the tap
down − (Minus) button.

2012 Camaro Manual

Some more from page 9-36:

The driver may use this for sport
driving or when climbing or
descending hills, to stay in gear
longer, or to downshift for more
power or engine braking. The
transmission will only allow you to
shift into gears appropriate for the
vehicle speed and engine
revolutions per minute (rpm). The
transmission will not automatically
shift to the next higher gear if the
engine rpm is too high. If shifting is
prevented for any reason, the
message SHIFT DENIED will
appear in the DIC, indicating that
the transmission has not shifted
gears. While in the Tap Shift Mode,
the transmission will not
automatically downshift on hard
acceleration.

I only drive in S mode both at the track and around town.
Hate the tap shifters.
Get ahold of Jannetty Racing for and tune and you'll real see what she's got.

I find that when i am on the track, i get better accleration when i am using the tapshift, the only thing bad about that is if you are late tapping gears, you car is going to stall. I really dont like using sport mode on the track in my opinion is because i dont think i am getting the much boost from when i am using the tapshift. I guess it is all preference.

For the dragstrip, use sport mode and turn off all the traction control systems. Also, if you get a tune, the tuner should be able to adjust Sport mode separately from regular Drive mode which will really improve your drag times.

I had to do the fuse pull twice and let it sit overnight without the fuses, but it did help.
