How far back do you wash the wheels?

Do you clean the brake dust, road grime, etc. off the entire wheel (behind the rotor) or just the face of it?

On my 02, had only 16" wheels and I couldn't fit my hand past the rotor, but with the 20" on my new SS I can get to the entire rim. Just curious what everyone else does (or is planning to do).

On my truck I just do the face, unless I am switching between the big rims and stock rims then while they are off I wash the whole she-bang.

On the camaro I will be doing the whole rim as much as I can possibly get.

I have the RS wheels and only clean the face. The fact that they are Dark smoked grey inside hides the dust and all. I think they designed it that way. Sure is alot easier than my 4th gen wheels were.

Here's an example of the brush I used to detail Number_9's car a couple of weeks ago. It's a 16" white tampico bristle spoke brush that will reaches all the way to the back of the wheel. It will even fit between the caliper and wheel.

I been using P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner with a EZ Detail Brush. But I would remove the wheel and clean them by hand first when you get your new ride and seal them before you put them back on. After that it's very easy to maintain.

Take the wheels off and wash and wax both sides. Don't forget to do the tire treatment on both sides to. Also each lug nut should be individually polished. While the wheels are off the brake calipers should be cleaned and the wheel wells detailed.
