Engine Compartment Dress Up/Refresh

Last time I detailed my car I noticed some of the carbon fiber 'CHEVROLET' overlay letters I installed on the engine cover almost 4 years ago had started to peel; so, I decided to go with a slightly different look. I also replaced the stock strut bar bolts with some nicer ones (thanks for posting the part numbers Stewart). While I was at it, I also replaced my '6.2L' hood emblems with '376' (ci) ones. Besides being a pain to keep looking nice, I was losing one of the '.' in one of the old emblems; the new one's should be a little easier to maintain and, IMO, look better.

Looking good Welker.

That engine cover came out great. Makes me wish I didn't destroy mine cutting the center section out.

May I ask where or how you did the 'Chevrolet' lettering on the cover?

Thanks. After my experience with the overlays peeling, decided to try painting them. Picked up a silver-metallic paint pen with a 'wedge' type tip from Walmart. Took my time and went over the letters 3 times, letting them dry between coats.

Nice! Everything looks good. I like the 376 badge on the hood. I would have that on mine but i already have 376 on the fenders.

What did you use to paint the cover? Huge shine to it.

I used Rust-Oleum Acrylic 2X Coverage spray paint for plastic & metal. I put on 4 coats, letting it dry for at least 2 hours between coats. Then , after letting it dry for 48 hours, I used Meguiar's Ultimate polish followed by Mequiar's Ultimate paste wax (all by hand). After installing the coover, I wiped everything down with a rag sprayed in Mequiar's Ultimate detailer. I am just listing exactly what I did/used, I'm sure you could use a different name brand and get the same, if not better results, then I did using a different brand of products.

looks great, i used the same bolts and washers for my strut bar. They really add to the over all look.

Looks Great! May I ask what the part numbers are for the Strut bolts. They really add a nice touch.
