Stock Exhaust
With all of these power gains with complete exhaust systems, I'm wondering where the restrictions are in the stock setup.
I mean, I get it that the stock exhaust manifold will not flow as well as headers and the stock mufflers seem to be very restrictive. But isn't everything else in the middle pretty good? I'm gonna wait for the GMPP shorty headers and axle-back to be dyno'd before making my decision. I'd like to keep my warranty.

I don't think the piping is much of a restriction.
I think the stock manifolds are #1, followed by the mufflers and THEN the cats. If you had to choose between only changing out the stock h-pipe and the mufflers, I would do the mufflers. Modern cats are not that restrictive, especially at these power levels. |

Full length headers are the only way to go. These engines just love that free breathing...

I agree with the free breathing being a big plus but some of the numbers are hard to believe. 50 rwhp with a tune and exhaust. I hope this is true but having trouble thinking it is.

Too bad you can't go with long tubes, no cats, mufflers for those quiet times, and a set of diverters. Gotta have cats, diverters are illegal in PA. Because of that, I think mine is staying stock, at least for awhile.

What brand muffler would give it the best "roar"?

I've read the GMPP axle-back was designed by Borla. If it has that sound and gives me a few ponies to boot, I might go that way. But we really need to get some sound clips and dyno's for the GMPP parts...
