Pulled fuses last night, got home tonight and installed fuses. First run at 20 mph I pushed on the accelerated and immediately broke loose. Holy ;$&(;!! I decomposed myself and thought, if it really has more power what about 2nd gear, at 30 mph accelerated and the rear end swerved and broke loose! Ok what about 3rd gear, same result at 40 mph! Unbelievable!!!!!

Maybe you need new tires if you can light them up in 3rd at 40mph...

But, yes, if you do the GM break in then you should do the fuse pull imo. Resets the ECU to defaults for some instant ECM learning curve.
Skeptical about having to pull the fuses. If you kill the power to the ECM by pulling the fuses or by disconnecting the battery it accomplishes the same thing. Disconnecting the battery kills the power to the ECM just the same. If the ECM has an internal battery back-up then pulling the fuses wouldn't work either.

The battery back-up is between the battery and the ECM. Where I don't know. But disconecting the battery never made a difference. Even when doing it between dyno pulls.

The battery was the first thing we tried. Which is why I didn't want to try the fuse pull at first.

Not exactly. By unplugging the battery you are making the run on the back-up battery. When you pull the fuses your interrupting the circuit. It's be the same thing as if you had taken scissors and cut a wire. You can have power all day long, but if if the circuits incomplete nothing will turn on.

I am convinced that I should pull the fuses, but can anyone of you, ANYONE...show on a diagram that this car really has a back up battery? If it does, it must be the size of a watch battery....waiting guys...

Been researching this a bit and apparently the e67 ecm doesn't just switch to the low octane table. It constantly blending the two tables based on conditions and presence of knock. Using 93 octane should keep you in the 100% use of the high octane table.

From HPTuners forum

quote
E38 / E67 use a percent spark bias approach. With quality fuel you may see 100% High octane spark, and obviously 0% Low octane spark table.

A good tune will run very close to this.

If you are overly aggressive with the High octane spark values, you may see a bias begin to occur - 90% High octane table and 10% Low octane table, etc.

E38 / E67 don't simply run off the High or Low octane spark tables - they continuously blend these values for the best spark per given situation.

And

quote

the ECM interpolates between the high octane and low octane all the time based on the Knock Learn Factor. You can log this in the scanner.

In the large fuse box under the hood, in front, on the passenger side.

Lift the lid and all will be revealed.

It was a real mess very slow and I kept getting the message from the dealer that NOTHING WAS WRONG as well as many other L99 owners. I sold that car. My order came in 3 weeks later, I test drove it with a stop watch prior to purchase to make sure it was performing properly.
