look at the car's 1/8 time and mph, but also the car beside it.

8.34 at 87.7
9.56 at 80.8

now the traps 87 for the 1/8th is 108.75
and 80.8 is 100.9

the spacing on their trap speed lights is off. the car probably ran 108mph.

its not like a racer can do anything about a bad lighting system at a track.

Not knocking the Shelby, hell I am even asking for more punishment because you would think they would get 600 horses out of their new engine with forced induction? Is it development time for the new engine? If so the next iteration will be damn scary....as if the current one is not!
Power production wouldn't have changed much, if at all, in supercharged trim...that is why they didn't do it. The disadvantages inherent in the 5.4L are a slightly smaller bore which has the effect of shrouding the valves and a less sophisticated VVT setup.

When you slap a blower on the 5.4L the valve shrouding effect disappears under all that artificial atmosphere, and forced induction engines really don't need the torque production advantages VVT systems bring for obvious reasons.

The production 5.0L has almost nothing in common with the FR500C engine. In fact, it has much more in common with the GT500's 5.4L and that is saying something because it has very little in common with that motor.

stock 5.0 vs stock SS who would win from a 3rd gear pull to rev limiter?

As much as the new 2011 Shelby GT500 excites me, some of the reviewers think the performance isn't enough over the 2011 GT. I'm hoping the official performance numbers are better than the estimates.

the mustang would get to its rev limiter first, is that what you are asking?

First stock auto drag times I've seen.

http://www.modularfords.com/forums/s...Black-Auto-5.0

Just got back from the track, i am very happy to say the least. Right off the freeway into the staging lanes after tech the first pass i did a 12.85 @ 114.8 Did a little cool down and dropped to 12.80 @115.171 with no cool down right back to the staging lanes it blasted to a 12.73@115.59 i was so surprised for a auto to be this fast and consistent. I did 8 passes all ranging from 12.88 to the 12.73.
This is 100% stock with 400 miles on the clock and stock tires at 35psi launching on idle with the traction control on. The best part was seeing the driver of the New Camaro ss with his newly installed long tubes drop his jaw at the times while his best was a 13.09 @ 110
Ill get the videos of passes from my buddy here shortly and post them up
The weather honestly was perfect mid 70s couldn't of asked for better. All the runs where with 2.0 60 foots so im thinking these auto 5.0s with a nice stall and sticky tires with gears should be low 12s high 11s easy stock motor
Its going to suck if my bolt on car wont be able to out run a stock GT. Damn you GM for puting a baby cam in the L99. I have owned many mustangs and camaro's and the Camaros were always faster year for year. It looks like it may not be the case this year for the first time in history. For those questioning the guys trap speed, The SS's trap speed looks spot on for his mods dont they. If the SS's trap speed is correct then doesnt that mean the GT's trap is too?

Couldn't the lane just be messed up? I'm just not seeing how it'd be possible to trap that high, but we'll see when an auto runs down a different track. Apparently the track is known for showing a high MPH but who knows.

LMAO, that is exactly why peeps need to get their noses out of the magazines and get out and drive. Let's say the difference between comparably equipped GT and GT500 is $12,000, what does that buy? Forged motor, Supercharger and all the plumbing, custom hood fascia with matching paint, Wheels and Tires, better suspension, much heavier duty clutch and transmission, all under warranty. Sounds like a bargain, aye? Bang for the buck? Maybe that goes to the GT, but that measure means more to some than others.... i.e. a pound of hamburger costs less than a pound of T-bone.... uh....yeah.....

Jeeze 116.

If it true hats off to Ford.

Challenger / and SS guys need a package deal to roll with it.

But alas...the SS has achieved midish 12's stock, just take a good driver and some break in time. I don't care about trap...i care who gets ther first.

True...most people associate trap speed with what would happen on the street in a roll race...Smart people keep it off the streets

It's pretty much a driver's race between these 2 powerhouses

I still think Chevy has something planned for the Camaro to go head to head with the mustang. Maybe not from the factory on a fully loaded 1/2 SS but maybe some aftermarket performance parts in the works other that the ones we have now for example new gears, suspension, ect. Just a thought and something I'd like to see.

Chevy doesn't have to do anything with the Camaro, it's already capable of going head-to-head with the 5.0 Mustang. You really can't get much more even from two completely different ponycars. Of course, if you're just looking for bragging rights, I guess it could matter.
