I have the LS, and I'm not sure if it even has more than one position. I just flick it to the left once to turn the lights off when driving in the daytime, and when I turn the car on at night, they are already on. It annoyed me at first, turning them off every time I drove during the day, but then I figured it was just as much effort as turning them on at night in other cars, or remembering to turn them on when it is raining (In states that require that by law). So they are always on when the car is on, or choose to turn them off.
In the long run, I realized that is actually fewer flicks of the knob than the alternative. Or, at least for people like me that work evening shifts, and drive as much during the day as at night. I have aftermarket fog lights too, and installed the switch just above the headlight knob on the dash there. It is kinda hidden by the wheel as well, but I just reach up from the knob and feel for it when I need to turn those on, which is rarely. |

What the headlight knob does may vary from place to place. Daytime running lights are required here so I can't turn them off. I have an RS model so I have no fog lights to turn on. It's very dry here so there's almost never any fog anyway.
I'm still trying to sort it out but so far it seems like the only use I have for the knob is to turn on the halos in the daytime, or to shut the lights off early after the key is off. I try to turn on the halos all the time but then I have to manually shut them off too. Since I do it all the time, I don't have to look. The auto feature means you may not use the switch much and might need to see it? Maybe the OP, in Brazil, has something like that happening ... ? |

If GM would design a joystick to drive with instead of a giant clunky wheel in front of you then the headlight knob would be highly visible.

No kidding. I bought my Camaro used in Missouri. Drove all the way to Texas not knowing where the damn headlight controls were.
As soon as I pulled in the driveway at home my wife came out to me meet. I told her the first thing I have to do is find the damn headlight controls. She casually reaches over and tells me they're right here. Never saw them because of my seat and steering wheel placement. I agree. Bad placement.

It's in a poor spot no doubt but you have to be one seriously uncoordinated person to not find and operate it after using it a few times. I like to drive all super cool and turn on the fogs and run just parking lights (like all the other cool kids right?). And its second nature more me to just reach down and flick the switch one click to the right and push the center button. No looking required. The DIC and lights on the gauges tell me if I got the desired results, lol.
Reminds me of this girl that does electrical work with us. She used to complain that we would have her do things and she couldn't see what she was doing. We just always told her you don't always have to see what your doing, just KNOW what your doing She got the hang of it eventually. Now, before anyone cries foul, it's low voltage work, no risk of frying someone

I'd guess that with all th evarious control knobs and such and only so many locations to put them in, they decided since the headkight knob for most peole will never get moved from auto, that's the one that ended up where it's at.
