Parking Cameras...

Anyone have a front camera on their car? I have the rear one, and am looking to install a front one in the near future. Just starting this thread, as I have a few questions, that may get answered before I starting asking stupid ones....

Ok, well thanks for those that viewed. I was looking at one on the Gen5dyi site, and it says that the rearview mirror needs to be replaced with the LCD type, as the Mylink cant display a secondary image.

I did find an Dual Link camera interface for factory radios, that offers it as an option. Just curious if anyone knows anything about it? Does it work as advertised, were there problems with interface or what? Any thoughts?

What's the reason for the camera on the front ? You doing it so you don't run into curbs? If so I installed one of these Brandmotion Curb Alert PRO (5000-CA5) Curb Alert PRO . Works great .

Actually, that's the exact reason. I bought my current Camaro used, and the front chin was already a little chewed up from the previous owner. I honestly, have tagged it a few times as well, but have purchased a new one to replace it.

That also was the site I was looking at, but I tend to read more then actually post, so I wasn't sure if I was allowed to name the website. I apologize for my ignorance.

The curb alert pro is worth it . I think it took me about 30 minutes to install.

I was thinking about doing the same thing, but I can't even get the factory rear camera to work with my Pioneer NEX 8200. Got the harness and the one wire is going to the speed sensor per directions. I just have a black screen when I go into reverse? My harness must be bad..if that could happen? Confused. I have a second camera, but doubt I'll want to deal with this anymore. Took a few hours just to get my wires out of the way enough to get my deck back in last wk. end. Feel like giving up on the cameras. Any suggestions? Toss the factory cam?

I would suggest one of these too, easy to install

I have cameras on the front, back, and both side mirrors.

I have an early 2010 model with no backup sensors, so the cameras really help with parking. The side mirrors are angled perfectly to be able to see the painted lines in a parking lot.

It all goes into a Kenwood DNN990HD...which is the slowest booting head unit I have ever seen in my life. I think it has a single core tablet CPU from back when tablets first came out.

thought you were referring to dual channel dash cam when I first read the thread, if so I have a thinkware F750 hard wired. works fairly well, records when parked, just shuts down a little earlier than I would like and have to reformat the memory card almost weekly which kind of sucks. need to get one of those Korean battery back ups that kick in when you kill the ignition. maybe next year if I can work it in to the budget

I had the curb alert I never liked it. Too many false positives. Going over speed bumps etc. I ended up selling it and installing a front camera with distance lines. Much prefer to see what is there rather than just hear the beeping.

This is mine. Have a front and backup cam. Working on splitting the video between the display and a video recorder for some good video clips.
