Ok I know this has been mentioned, but a route for a Camaro Cruse, not all of us drag, autocross. I did enjoy watching but a curse would be nice, I would kick 10.00 or so for a police escort.

They belong on dry hard pavement, not some grassy area where they have to worry about a massive cleanup of all the crap imbedded in their tire threads getting slung all over their suspension and frames or the grass clippings getting tracked into their cars while their trying to prepare them for judging. The car show portion of camarofest in a big part of the fest and the work that the organizers put into it and the work, labor and weeks of preparation that the participants put into their cars to get them ready deserve no less then prime area parking for one day of a multi day event. In addition, they have to sit with their cars for 8 hours and that's easier to do with chairs on pavement then fighting with the Nats and Mosquitos in the grassy areas. There should be an easy way to make one return lane so everyone is happy I think. I know that all the car shows I have organized over the years I always get a pleasant response from participants when they can park on asphalt rather then grass and they are always better attended and attract more spectators.

The issue is that Drag racers need to park in that area to be able to hear the loud speakers & to be able to make it to the lanes fast when their class is called to run. Lots of folks missed out on drag racing at all this year for that very reason. In other areas it is hard to hear or it is too far to be able to easily make it to the lanes in time. It is much more important to drag racers to not have grass or dampness on their tires than it is for car show folks for safety reasons. I do a good bit of both car shows & racing and personally sometimes it is better to be in the grass. You can get some relief from the heat being near shade trees, it is easier to set up tents and once you clean the grass off your tires at a car show, you just sit there and it is all good.

I only saw your reply post on page two and was just trying to be helpful and give feedback. Having had my car over there plus being in autocross finals I did find it hard to get my car out and back over to the track. Plus with all the families walking thru the vendors I felt really uneasy driving thru there. Of course I drove slow but still all it takes is one idiot driver -case in point Friday nights idiot- and one child running around while mom is shopping or dad is paying for parts for something seriously awful to happen. So was just trying to convey my thoughts on the safety of everyone at the event.
LOL... took my sign down. The main lanes were kept clear by the fence, but we probably could have had more parking lot Nazis like Spike down there to enforce a good lineup and keep trailers out. Whether it was car show or not that area would still be packed full of Camaros and over all I was pretty happy with how close everyone was able to be to Vendors, GM, Tech station and bleachers. AZ was so spread out I didn't even know we had road coarse stuff going on.

Drag racers should have been kept completely out of that area. There was trailer and drag race parking at the end of the bleachers what wasn't used and they needed to drive down there anyway just to get around the fence and into the lanes. We also didn't know it would be so hard to hear the announcer. This is a very important part of drag racing and your situation was probably the most unfortunate. All in all if we did it again tomorrow I'd put car show parking in the same spot and other areas would make adjustments. These are the cars most folks want to see.

And thank both of you for all your help prior to and during the fest.

Yeah. I was the guy helping at the store with Doug and Dana. Also hung out at Kyle's truck in the parking lot drinking that ridiculous ice hole

Hey Mike...it was really good to meet you at the Fest. If not for you I wouldn't have Mike Judge's autograph on my engine bay! Looking forward to next year.

I was in the finals (for one round anyhow) of the Camaro Cross, and Eliminations of the V6 Drags. My story is that I went out first round of the Cross so I could go drag. (IT WASN'T BECAUSE I SUCK @ CROSS). That's my story and I'm sticking to it . BUT it was hard to do both. I know that Indy pace car guy missed his call for the drag races because he DOESN'T suck @ cross LOL.

Glad to hear you guys got the call and were able to make a decision, just too bad you couldn't make both. We will schedule this differently next time for sure.
