Mine was notchy up until I turned 10000 miles a little while ago and changed the transmission fluid. It helped.

You may need to go to the dealer and have it looked at. The slight nibbling feel especially when tranny is cold is a common complaint but if you have a bigger problem than that, the warranty will be your friend. If they decide nothing is wrong with your tranny and there isn't anything they can do about it, you may need to help your self.

GM manual tranny fluid looks just like any other automatic transmission fluid but it is supposed to be a special blend. Some people have found synthetic Dexron 3 based formulations (Mobil 1 Synthetic Multi-Car Formula for example) to be a good improvement in synchro feel. This is not the latest and greatest Dexron formulation so ignore the recomended appicaions shown on the Mobil 1 bottle. The bottle says it is for older GM applications. It looks just like the GM fluid but it smells a lot like your typical 90w gear oil so it will be obvious if you drain it that it is not GM fluid. Keep the original GM fluid in your garage in case you need it again for some reason.

You do not want the Dexron VI formula that is specifed for newer GM cars.

Some people have said Royal Purple SynchroMax fluid to also be good but I have not tried that myself.

The oil in our manual transmissions is really automatic transmission fluid.

The Royal Purple Syncromax oil is way better for it though, made especially for our application.

Yeah. It's pretty obvious already.
Please, post your results after you change fluid. I was going to do this too, but now have more important things to "fix" on this car.

I got the dealer to do it while I was getting an oil change done. I got the OEM stuff put back in. It definetely helped and is worth spending the money on.

My car has been in for them to look at second gear being notchy and said it was normal operation so I figured what the heck I'll spend the 50 bucks.

No confusion - Modern manual transmissions like the one in our Camaros use automatic transmission fluid. For example, Royal Purple Synchromax is a DEXRON 1-3 based Automatic Transmission Fluid that they market for manual transmissions but you would not want to run that fluid in an old school Muncie 4-speed that requires 90wt GL-4 gear oil. Some 2010-11 Camaro owners have reported being pleased with RP Synchromax but I have not tried it. I do know the M1 Multi-Car Synthetic ATF works well. It has been in there almost 2 years and I am not going back to the GM fluid. If you decide to do a fluid change you would not go back either.

I don't know anything about the V6 manual tranny but if you try it and like it then how bad can it be?

I think the V8's take automatic transmission fluid and the V6's use gear oil, I could be wrong but check your manual to make sure you do not need to use gear oil.
