Strange paint problem

2012 IOM LT...car only has 370 miles on it...it's mostly been in my garage since I picked it up in the fall. Today I noticed a flaw in the paint on the driver’s side door, just in front of the door handle. It looks like something is under the paint. It’s a small black “bump” that is higher than the paint…but it won’t come off and appears to be under the clear coat. Anyone else have a problem like this? Seems like a warranty issue, but should I risk a re-paint to get it fixed? Thoughts?

Best picture I could get….

May just need a quick machine buff. Have the dealer look at it. I would shy away from repaint but a light sanding and buffing might be worth a try.

I had the same thing on mine. Take it to the dealer and they will wet sand it out for you, only took a few minutes for them to fix it. Just dont let them tell you that it needs to be clay bar and detailed.

Let us know how things go for you with your dealer. Hopefully they get you all taken care of.

Update on this issue if anyone is interested. Dealer says it can't be wet sanded out...will need to repaint the door and fade into the front fender and rear quarter. I guess I don’t have much of an option. The spot stands out pretty good and breaks the clear coat. I assume it could lead to a rust issue down the road if it is not taken care of. Car is heading to the body shop today and they are going to call me to discuss. UGH.

Ask your dealer for a door off another Camaro of the same color from off the lot.

I have a similar problem with mine, its a piece of dirt under in the basecoat(under the clear) Because the bump is the same color and not really noticable I'm leaving it. My panel would have to be repainted as well. If they sanded they would have to go through the clear and base to remove it.

Mine is on top of the base, and only partly into the clear...black and rather large....

The dealership outsourced the work to another body shop even though they dealership has one. When it arrived at the other body shop they called me and said they were confident they could sand it out. I just came home from inspecting the car and it looks awesome. I couldn’t even find the flaw. Very happy a repaint was avoided.

That's great news, with the IOM paint it may have been noticeable if repainted
