Mine was done at Bob Hembree Chevrolet in Guntersville, Al. By me.lol the charge for vci program is every time. it rewrites the program gm has on file for your vehicle. Therefore if say your bcm went out the next guy to program it would be able to add the steering wheel controls without even knowing it.
Tell you what, everyone that is close in the north Al area I will install and program the controls for a $100 thats $50 for the program and$50 for the labor , if you come and have your own parts. I know there are other techs that read these sites and I challenge them to help out too. Keep us camaro guys in trusting our dealers not getting bent over by them!!!!

Tech support this is an awesome thread and im going to order the parts tomorrow. Thanks for your detailed report of how to do this mod,you make it look easy.
Im wondering, have you done any research on changing the drl's into fog lamps? I priced out the fog lamp assys, harnesses, and headlamp switch but somebody mentioned that there may be a bcm reprogram needed to make them work like a non rs car. I was wondering if its that easy and also what will happen to the drl function, will it switch back to the headlamps on a non rs car or is there a way I can reroute it to perhaps the parking lamps. (even if it means going to a double filament bulb in the parking lamp I think it would be nice.) |

So it sounds like this is a fairly easy program, when you go to these dealers do you have to go through a whole big explanation or do you just tell them to turn activate the steering radio controls? Is there any trick that you have to give them any info on what to do or do they just know? I ordered the parts last week so ill be ready for programming by next week. Thanks

I'm not sure what others have done, But I took my dealer in printout of the this http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...15&postcount=1 post . They seemed to understand it alright.
good luck ShadoChaser
