lol....I have had a few people ask me if I was going through a mid-life too I am like....I am only 33, so no it's not a mid-life just always wanted a Camaro. I remember wanting a I-ROC and Z-28 sooooo bad in highshool and just could not afford it. So I am like heck since my wife and I both love the Camaro why not just get another. This other Camaro will be a secondary vehicle so I chose the V8, but just about all of our commuting with work will be in the V6. I am about to bring my business home to work out of my house so my commute to work will be dramatically shortened which will save me on the gas with the V8

Absolutely nothing wrong with the V6 and 300+ HP. It is a beautiful car and great fuel economy. One post mentioned the older cars having less or comparable HP to today's V6. The down fall or difference is in the weight of today's vehicles. A 69 Camaro was moving a lot less car down the road.

I'm done with all those morons that don't know any better!
I don't have to justify my Camaro to no one, I say F them all! I also grew up in the 80's and owned two v6 Camaros a 1984, 1988 RS an a 1992 Z28 fully loaded with a 5.7L tune port 350 motor (245 Hp) and the new V6 is faster than my 1992 Z28 Bottom line, it's a statement just to be buying a new car in this bad economy even more a Camaro! So they can kiss it. Found this useful info on line for those of us that grew up in the 80's 0-60 & 1/4 Mile 1982 Chevrolet Corvette 9.2 16.6 1984 Chevrolet Corvette 6.7 15.1 1985 Chevrolet Corvette 5.7 14.1 1985 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 4.9 13.1 1986 Chevrolet Corvette 5.8 14.4 1986 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 6.0 14.5 1988 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 6.0 14.6 1988 Chevrolet Corvette Z51 6.0 14.6 (Just like the new V6 Camaro times) 1990 Chevrolet Corvette 5.7 14.3 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 4.4 12.8 1991 Chevrolet Corvette L98 5.3 13.9 1991 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster 5.6 14.1 1992 Chevrolet Corvette LT1 5.7 14.1 1992 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 5.6 13.9 1993 Chevrolet Corvette LT1 5.3 13.9 1993 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 5.2 13.6 1994 Chevrolet Corvette LT1(auto) 5.5 14.1 1994 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 4.7 13.1 1995 Chevrolet Corvette LT1 5.2 13.7 1995 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 4.9 13.1 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Collectors' 4.9 13.3 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 4.7 13.3 1997 Chevrolet Corvette 4.7 13.3 1998 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 5.1 13.5 1999 Chevrolet Corvette Hardtop 4.8 13.3[/COLOR]

All of the above stat`s for 6o`s era cars are correct for show room stock but the one thing alot of us overlook was the tire sizes and technology of the time. When most of these cars were outfitted with either Mickey Thompson`s or 7" cheater slick of the day they shaved +/- a second over show room stock with no other changes.
One other thing, the numbers for the Z28 are vastly under rated, it had closer to 400 HP and a red line close to 7,000 RPM. |

You nailed it. I'm buying a car that will surprise people that it's a V6. A 2LT will look great, have all the toys, be fun to drive, won't kill my insurance rates, and is in my price range. If someone is willing to drop $7k in my mailbox with no strings attached, I'll gladly change my order to a 2SS, but otherwise a V6 will do the trick.

I also chose the the nice stuff that comes with the 2LT over a 2SS and the $7k difference. In my younger days with a $30k budget, I would have gone for a 1SS but wanted the cool trinkets with my driving style today. |
