Derive systems (SCT) got nailed by the feds

Not sure what this means for all of us in the Camaro world and our mail order tunes.

Casper’s Electronics got hit a few years ago too

It’s a matter of time before they take down HPTuners., then the aftermarket industry will be in deep trouble.

hey dynoSteve, hope you see this.

I think this is about cat deletes, it's why I went the H/F cat route. Turbo and blower cars gonna take a hit..

Reading the article they are not shutting down SCT. All it is saying is they have to stop making their tuners with the ability to turn off Catalitic converters and DPF delete parts. It’s not that big of a deal. They just have to put warning labels and such “for off road use only” all over everything.

SCT fined by EPA

http://www.thedrive.com/news/23833/e...defeat-devices

Derive Systems, The Makers of SCT and Bully Dog tuners we're fined by the government and told they have to stop selling their tuners until they are made compliant. I'm not sure how all of the tuning works but I know a few big tuners around here use the SCT X4 for our cars including Dynosteve and Ted from Jannetty. What do you think this means for us, if anything?

Do you think this will have an effect on other companies that offer handheld tuners?

Yeah I saw that. There's hardly any traffic here now and they move the few new good posts elsewhere sheesh! I'd say its a pretty relevant topic for us to discuss here it may affect a lot of people who frequent this board & I'm one of them.

Very selective on what is deemed off topic and like you said there is little traffic these days. Hardly anyone posts anywhere but the general forum.

I think the EPA needs to focus on getting the cars that are spewing huge amounts of oil burning smoke off of the road. The people who utilize a tuner are such a very small percentile of the amount of cars on the road, there really isn't going to be any measurable difference I bet.

EPA should focus on countries running on coal like China and focus on bigger machinery like trains and ships before they worry about me spewing emissions on my 2.5 mile commute

The EPA has no authority over China or any country about what they do or don`t do.
