mirror switch replacement- door panel removal required?

So I broke the switch to select the mirrors that's on the door panel. Replacement just arrived.

Is it necessary to remove the entire door panel to swap this bad boy, or do you think it can be popped out? Looking at the switch, I'm thinking it may be able to get popped out if I'm careful, but wanted input from here before I go trying anything....

Pic of the new switch: note the clips on it...will they allow it to be pulled through?

I would do it right and pull the door panel off, it's about 10 min of work. I don't think you would be able to compress those clips from the outside.

You'll need to pull the panel to do it correctly. Other wise you'll end up with a bigger problem possibly.

bump because i just had to do it. Easy 3-5 min job. I did not have to remove door panel. Using plastic trim tools lifted the mirror switch to its maximum position. which for me wasn't much (not sure if my audio guys taped it off shorter or if normal). Took some pliers and cracked the middle plastic brace at the bottom of the connection. Using some small tools then lifted the connection to allow the switch to be pulled out. Holding on to the connection (because like i mentioned mine was very short) i grabbed new one and slipped it through the top. And that's all folks.
