Never had a problem with bird poop. I guess the northeast birds have weak poop.

Some bird crap isn't caustic... some is. I've had it eat entirely through every particle of clear coat underneath a pile of crap, leaving nothing but flat, dull paint underneath, after just a few hours of sitting on the hood. It's a hard lesson to learn, but I won't be fooled again: Every mudslosh delivered by the endless onslaught of those 'foul' creatures gets cleaned off very quickly.

And in random news, my employee parking space was recently upgraded, which has taken me out from underneath the bird roosting- tree of perpetual sludge (really... at least twice per day, I needed to perform bird crap recovery operations), and into the open, where target success rate for birds is only about 10% of what it was.

Oh, one more random thing: A few days ago, I discovered a big pile of feathers in my backyard: Evidence that my wife's cat had successfully killed a crap factory... and it warmed my heart enough to make me think that, hey... cat's aren't so bad after all.

Birds are the absolute most hated when it comes to my Camaro. When it gets bombed it goes straight to the touch free that very evening and if touch up is needed it gets done. I've been thinking of getting some kind of lightweight pistol or air gun just to annoy them back. One of our cats has brought two of the evil paint ruining beasties into our house to eat and leave the carcass as a present. He gets a big thumbs up when he does it as I dispose of the trophy.

Not a perfect solution but this helps short term for bird and bug splat; and also have EXPEL film on bug splat/sandblast areas.
Have about 4 layers of this "Protect" on which adds a fairly nice barrier clear shell, needs to set for 24 hours with no rain after last coat -- works well as barrier until I notice the mess and remove - found on clearance at Kmart for 75% off; got 2 bottles and go overboard with it:

Never had issues with birds here (cept pigeons, clean that off right away). Usually just some water and a soft towel / sponge is all I've ever needed though. That said, I do try to avoid parking under trees and other convenient bird perches. Even after a week or two though I've never noticed any spots / discoloration. You must have some acidic birds.

Bird poop and crappy clear coat!

Missed! Look to the left of the inspection sticker! I lucked out today! I had just washed the car! BTW, I have 3 other vehicles, a Ford, Toyota, and Datsun and none of these show any bird poop etching! The Datsun is a 1981 with original paint and still does not have a single etching from bird poop! Under the lights, my Camaro has orange peel, swirls from hand washing , and several bird poop etching! I stand by what I said about Chevrolet's crappy clear coat and poor paint job! Sorry! Maybe I got painted with the bottom of the barrel! My car has 11,000, is garage kept, and washed often!

We have pelicans, too, but if an osprey, which we have lots of, ever dumps on it, I will have to have it repainted!

The tree in front of my house tends to host a bunch of hawks. But I have also noticed some eagles flying around here too. You would think I would be honoured to have an eagle drop a deuce on my hood...but not so much. When they crap on my car, it tends to look like it's ass exploded on my hood/roof. I mean, it's an ungodly amount of poo.

Being I live in Florida, we really don't get a break from the birds, even in winter. Wintertime just brings all the northern birds down here for vacation.

For about a week straight, I got hit by "Birdzilla." Always in the same place, the top or side of the left quarter. This was the SMALLEST of the bombs to hit the car. I never did find a nest, but after this one, I manned up, cleaned the garage and now no more Birdzilla blasts.

Fortunately no permanent damage to the paint, like I mentioned, I keep it WELL protected with multiple applications of Meguiars Fast Finish

I close detailed my car on Saturday, went down to the car show, the a quick shopping trip with the wife. When I got home, I see the bird had hit the car, quickly cleaned it off - but too late. Maybe an hour, tops, but that was long enough. Now I have the shadow of the strike etched in the clear coat.

I have a black car, and it was hot and sunny on that side of the car, so really unlucky I guess. Plenty of videos online for treating this kind of thing, so i’ll be finding a pro to try and fix it this week. Frustrating as hell tho.

Bird crap is very acidic. It eats up 3 coat lead induced coatings. If it’s not bird poop, then it’ll be rock chips. you can’t keep a vehicle mint if you’re driving. You CANNOT control the destiny of the car if you take it out of the garage. Period.
