2010-11 SS MPG Commuters Poll

I'd love to know the MPG you are getting with your V8 SS Camaros. This would be very helpful in figuring out total car ownership costs.

Thanks

Please post:

1. Percent of Hwy miles driven each week?

2. Percent of city miles driven each week?

3. Miles on your car?

4. Average MPG per tank for mixed driving?

5. Average MPG tank for pure Hwy driving?

2. Percent of city miles driven each week? 85%

3. Miles on your car? 2600

4. Average MPG per tank for mixed driving? 300

5. Average MPG tank for pure Hwy driving? 400-450 (depends on the highway and the speed limit)

factor in L99 vs LS3. The sticks get worse mileage because they are driven more agressively (?). Maybe because they are more fun ?

I drove from san antonio to houston (~200 miles) yesterday and got 24.5 mpg with cruise control set to 75. I drive a 2ss m6, and have 3200 miles.

Ok -- not sure what you consider HWY vs city speeds -- I have areas on my daily drive where I can do like 60 but I don't consider that highway since I'd be doing like 80 on the hwy...

For my daily drive -- my average speed is like 40-41mph and my average MPG is like 20-21....
I've re-set and tested this a couple of times and it averages out the same....
I drive 90 miles a day round trip and have over 21300 miles on mine right now.

& I am guilty of flooring it now and again

This is a very helpful thread. I'm amazed at the great MPG's from such a large engine.

ya if you keep your foot off the loud pedal it can get some decent gas mileage... the problem becomes the self control

BTW: for my post above i have a LS3... it would be interesting to see if the cylinder shut off feature on the autos does actually increase the mileage or not... typically i was under the impression that a manual car can get better mileage due to the ability of putting the car in neutral and being ably to under gear the car for cruising...

L99

1. Percent of Hwy miles driven each week? 5%

2. Percent of city miles driven each week? 95% (primarily short runs - 5 miles to work)

3. Miles on your car? 8600

4. Average MPG per tank for mixed driving? 14

5. Average MPG tank for pure Hwy driving? 22-24 depending on cruising speed (65mph to 80mph)

My overall average over the 8600 miles is currently 17.9 - that includes about 4000 miles of highway from a recent trip.
