How many 2012 ZL1 are going to be produced? When will they start 2013 production and how many 3013 are going to be produced???

I would guess under or close to 1000 for 2012. Hopefully they'll put out like 3000 for 2013, but I'm not sure that there would be any solid answers for this yet. Production is going to be mid June for 2013's I believe.

My build date is May 8th, so ill probly have one of the last of the 2012s being built.

They can produce around 2500 camaros a week. I would think they can make a couple thousand more 2012's before the 2013 model year changeover.

The information that we have was that Chevrolet did a 'Controlled Production' of the 2012 Camaro ZL1. This controlled production was because of the late start and in hopes of not having the vehicle considered a 'Limited Edition Model'

Further details show that only about 200 dealerships in the USA were offered allocation. Of these dealerships, the number of allocations was limited to 1-5 units. If that is all true, the total number of 2012 Camaro ZL1s is going to be less than 1000 units. Has anyone seen a VIN over 1000 yet? Highest I have heard about is #478.

Highest I've seen here is 480, but the 1000 unit production run sounds right.

But the million dollar question is, will GM produce a ZL1 for all of those allocations for MY2012? My dealership has two, 1 is built and I am the second allocation sitting at 1102.

from what i hae been told though they don't tranfer MY orders so all 2012 orders would be canceled.

So then you would have to re-order. not possitive that is true but what I have read.

Just like with the hold it is all speculation right now until GM says something. If they ramped up ZL-1 production they could fufill the allocation but they may decide not to.

If they do end up canceling 1000+ orders I hope they do something for us like they did for the poeple with the B92 issue.

Were suppose to know more in about 9 days or so as far as the 1100 status MY2102's. The problem on the ZL1's on hold has been fixed now and are being shipped. The ZL1's of 3000 and above should be moving up soon the production ladder. Just have to wait and see how GM decides to handle remaining allocations promised to the dealers. My guess is they will end up producing 969 for MY 2012.

If my order gets cancelled I will be absolutely pissed!

I will call GM and demand to talk to some brass! I'd better get one of the first 10 2013's off the line! As you can tell, I'm not a happy camper with all this 2012 speculation going around. Ok rant of the day over....for now..
