Hood air extractor vents opinions (hex vents or stock '14 hood vent)
Has anyone here added an air extractor vent system to their supercharged '10-'13 Camaro? If so, any noticeable before/after improvements with IAT's? I see the "Hex Vent" brand, and also the '14 and up have them stock from GM.
Just wondering if this something I should do. I'm putting on a top mount PD supercharger (Kenne Bell) and logic tells me that a vent pulling away heat certainly can't hurt it...but will it make any appreciable difference? |

I have the Hex Vents -- they do let the heat escape. Some of the 'factory' vents may be better as they are designed to do venting while driving -- sitting @ a stop -- both will help vent engine bay heat.

Our HEXvents are positioned for heat extraction and does provide lift reduction. The GM vent does extract heat but its positioning is primarily for lift reduction. So the GM vent does not work the same as the HEXvents. The GM vent without a splash pan will allow water to drop directly on the belts. Its important to have a water deflection system in place. It doesn't take much water to water to cause the A/C or Supercharger belt to slip. So keep that in mind when you are installing any vent system on your Camaro. Hope this helps, Ray Last edited by Steve@HPE; 03-13-2015 at 12:10 AM. |

I love my Hex vents. Never have had any issues with them.
(can't say the same about the other vents in my hood) But I have the SLP TVS Supercharger and the heat POURS out the hex vents. Definitely does the job. Not only that, but the supercharger whine is twice as loud since it screams out the vent hole!!! Super easy install, Well worth it!

Thanks for the input guys. Anyone take before/after readings of their IAT's to see if these vents actually lowered them?
