Single turbo
Hello,
I’m looking for suggestions on putting together a single turbo kit for my 2010 ss. Looking to just get my feet wet in the forced induction world for now as my car is stock. 600-800 hp is my target for now. |

Huron single kit hits that power level. Cash out more and go twins if you want a bigger ceiling, or have plans for a forged motor. this is a T4 kit, T6 kits are custom.

I’ve been looking at the Huron kit, but I’ve seen other places that people have trouble with melting plug wires, etc.

I don't know that a single turbo kit exists that won't melt stuff. I run lots of wrap and ceramic boot plug wires.

The Turbonetics kit with a 7675 should support 700-800rwhp.

I built my own kit and have not melted anything to speak of (took precautions ahead of time)

Does your aux pump supply fuel from the tank or meth from the fuel cell? If it's plumbed into the tank, what did you use to seal the fitting you put in the tank? Did you run out of fuel with the ZL1 pump and BAP? Asking because I'm stepping up a bit and wondering if I'm going to run out of fuel

And that's not a kit.

#2 Aux from tank (added a 1:1 fpr that returns to tank(has fps on it)) and meth has a tank I built for it in the trunk. #3 I used a 8an bulkhead fitting out the bottom rear pump side of the tank. (Sealed perfectly) #4 ran out of ZL1 pump with JMS bap, added aux pump setup to compensate. I am also in the process of retrofitting a dw400 into my ZL1 bucket. (Will have full function) I went a different direction compaired to what I have read on this forum, I pieced together my setup and I am sure that other set ups that cost more can do better but mine was cost effective and works. (I like to build or make my own stuff and can't help re-inventing the wheel) my fpcm is still fully functioning with a return style setup.

Thanks for the info. Your set up is not that much different than what others are doing. Even guys that drop 3k on a fuel rig can run into issues eventually. racing costs a lot, so you have to use your money wisely if you are not on an unlimited budget. I like the idea of the bulkhead fitting. I take it you dropped the tank. If you drop the tank, you could even put some kind of filter sock on the other side of the fitting.
All the aux systems I see going in on Youtube, they just drill a hole and tap it for 3/8 npt. Then they put the fitting in with some kind of sealant. To me that is not a lot of threads to hold a fuel line for the next 20 years, but guys are running them successfully. I like the idea of the dw400 in the ZL1 bucket. I was looking into how to use the Hellcat pump, but it's a good bit bigger than the ZL1 pump and you would have to mod the wiring for the significant increase in amperage draw. I once tried to use a major manufacture's 340lph pump on a E85 600chp 427 NA build and ran out of fuel. It was advertised to support 700. They took the pump back, but what a pain to do that twice.

I did not drop my tank. I had previously cut the access hole when I originally did the zl1 pump.
My whole thought on doing the bulkhead is exactly what you mentioned about the threads and sealant lasting. I do not have a filter sock on the bulkhead but I do have a pre-filter on my inline pump. (Between pump and bulkhead) I did move my fuel pressure sensor to my fpr (also have a gauge on it too lol)

The dsx aux kit uses a NPTF tap and fitting. (sold separately). Its a dry seal thread. Used with their sealant, I had no issues. When I upgraded, I bought the right sized plug with NPTF threads, and its still in there now. No leaking. I think its important to obviously secure the hose so the threads don't get loosened up. https://dsxtuning.com/products/drill...r-aux-pump-kit I was worried about it too, but it was fine. I would just go straight to a dual or triple in tank, though.
