The smartest stupid thing you’ll read today. (For manual drivers, maybe autos too)

I can’t for the life of me remember where I saw this...using a 12oz Gatorade bottle in the forward cup holder to rest your wrist/forearm in between shifts or whenever.

Call me crazy but it actually works! The cap is wide enough to make it comfortable and poises your hand perfectly and level with the lever. I have an MGW so I don’t know how it works with stock.

I’m gonna try to fabricate something that fits snugly and possibly even more comfy on the wrist.

Why is your hand down there when it's not being needed to shift from one gear to another?

Seriously, using your right hand/arm to balance the left gives you much better control over the steering.

It was insightful information though.

Anything that sits higher than the cup holders annoys the hell out of me and makes the position for my rignt arm super awkward which makes it difficult to shift

The most useless design decision they made was putting those cupholders in the center console. I just switched out to MGW and thought it made it worse for having anything there, but I have to sit fairly far back.

They should have put the cupholders in the door panel like the early 90s Firebirds/Camaros. Perfect spot.

I disagree. My Cover Panel looks great there. Ties in the color and Rally Stripe design nicely.

That is the coolest cover I have ever seen.
I made one with padding that matches the console but now I’m going to go back to the drawing board.

I left some of it clear because I put red LED's in the cupholder, so at night the Chevy logo lights up red.

All my vehicles have a console w/shifter except my 1992 pick-up and I do rest my arm on the shifter all the time just habit. I drove big rigs for 38 years 49 states and always had my hand on the shifter. I have never got out of the habit.

Same as when I run a road course track. My hand is 90% of the time on the shifter.
