I need a Favor ASAP...

Can some of you folks with an LS3...or L99 for that matter please do me a favor???

I would like to know if you could go ahead and start the car and let it idle, then please let me know the psi reading on the 4guage pack at idle, as well as at 2k RPM.

I would really appreciate if you a few of you could do this for me, I want to ensure I am getting the proper oil pressures in my car since the big engine swap.

Please post what engine you have and what the psi is... Thanks for the help!!

LS3 at idle was a bit over 30 lbs. I will have to pay attention at 2k rpm and let you know.

OK thanks everybody... It seems as though I am reading much lower than that...

Here are my thoughts. If it was really that low, I would be getting a check oil light at 20psi or lower). Mine is reading around 17 at idle on the 4-pack gauge. I am guessing that it is inherently unaccurate anyway.

This does concern me, but I think I need to get it plugged into HP tuners or something similar and have a real readout given ASAP.

Thanks for the help, and I would appreciate any thoughts you folks would have.

I have an issue with my oil pressure reading. I have taken it to to the dealer and they called the regional service tech and said it was within spec and I shouldn't worry unless I saw an oil light, but I call . When the engine oil gets to operating temp ~ 200 deg. F my oil pressure at idle is only about 8 psi and at 2K rpms it is ~ 27 psi and when cold it is only a tic higher at both rpm levels. When I first got my car it was more in-line with what you other guys have been saying yours is at but as of late there was a big step change. I am not satisfied with the answer the service tech gave and I fear there is irreparable damage being done every time I drive it. And yes I have changed my oil with Mobile 1 5w30 synthetic twice already with 7k miles on the odometer. I think my best solution is to tell them I saw an oil light come on temporarily and they need to fix it, otherwise they aren't going to touch it.

L76, L77, L92, L94, L99, L9H, LC9, LH6, LH8, LH9, LS2, LS3, LS4, LS7, LS9, LSA, LZ1

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:

Some customers may complain of low oil pressure, no oil pressure, and/or engine noise, which may be the result of a sticking oil pump pressure relief valve. In some instances, this may occur intermittently if the valve frees up when the engine cools down.
Recommendation/Instructions:

If SI diagnosis isolates low mechanical oil pressure at the oil filter housing and oil pressure sensor, replace the oil pump, flush the oil cooler lines (if equipped), clean the inside of the oil pan, change the oil and filter, and re-evaluate the concern.

Notice: If an engine noise is noticed after replacing the oil pump, follow the SI diagnosis and repair the engine as necessary.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Nothing says the light must come on for them to diagnose the issue...

Just did a cold start on mine...

At idle after cold start the guage rests between the 30 line and the next unlabeled line.

At 2K after cold start the guage rests a bit above that unlabeled line.

That was great info. It sems like this could be the issue with a few cars that I have seen with the problem. Companies like Katech have even made shims which repair/replace that spring in the releif valve that seems to be causing these issues.

I am going to install a new High Pressure pump and then double check everything again...

Yep, I knew about that posting. I actually printed it out and carried it to the dealership, still nothing. They did diagnose it and said "it was within spec."
