V6 Mileage
I currently have 2 Camaro's (81 Z28 and 11 SS) that are my "fun" cars and am seriously thinking about adding a 3rd to use as my "daily" driver. My current daily driver is a 13 GMC Yukon Denali XL that I plan on keeping but need "something" with better gas mileage. I'm curious what everyone thinks about the V6 and what kind of gas mileage you're getting. I spoke with a C5 guy Saturday and he's getting around 20 highway so I'm wondering what others are seeing? Any issues with V6?

I love my V6 and average 20 mpg for my driving. Mostly in town driving.

I drive it like I stole it, see triple digits at least once per week, drive it hard on mountain roads, city, and a little highway for 600 miles per week. Never gotten less than 19 MPG out of a tank, can get 26 MPG out of a tank, average (including lifetime average, at 70,000 miles now) is slightly over 22 MPG.

The mileage all depends on driving conditions and driving style. I live in a rural part of the state with small towns so my highway driving makes up over 90% of my driving. Summer I can get 28+ and winter it sucks at around 18 to 19 MPG. I drive aggressive some. Just took a road trip yesterday just over 100 miles round trip, our speed limits are 55 on the highway and driving 60 according to the DIC this tank so far is at just over 26 MPG and that was running around town in 2nd and 3rd gear(automatic using sport mode) at 30 and getting in and out of the throttle to make some noise. I don't think you would do as good in the big city. This week I do have to make a really long road trip and I am going to baby it and try for 30MPG but don't think I will get there once I hit the big city. I have hit just over 29 MPG a couple of times. Even though I wanted the SS this car is still fun to drive. The 2 things that impress me the most is the power that the V6 has and how good the MPG is with how I drive it.

25.4mpg, computer-calculated, with 700 miles on the clock, so far.
I'm hoping it improves as I've been driving it on a lot of backroads during the "break-in" period. Once I'm driving it on the freeway all the time, mileage should theoretically get slightly better. |

my car is currently displaying 18.6, but my commute has a lot of stop and go traffic so you might be able to get into the 20's. I think anyone that gets above say 21-22 is usually not in traffic much or on road trips

I've always gotten better or at least even with epa figures in every car I've driven. I think the driver makes as much difference as any other factor.

Lifetime average on 52k mi: 18.5 mg ... The first 22.5k miles it was a rental car, so there was probably a lot of 'gunning it'

I average about 25-26 mpg. The best I've gotten was 31 on the highway with the cruise control set to 64.
