thanks, and yes, I will enjoy every minute of it. I turn 56 tomorrow. Cant understand some people that work until they are real old, then die months after they retire.

Congrats. I retired at 46. Well, semi-retired. I do contract work in the same industry. Some years I work 12 months, some years I don't work at all. Depends on what is available and what I feel like doing. I actually prefer to work during the winter and summer months. Too cold or too hot for drag racing. I have couple more years before I can officially retire but I will probably continue what I have been doing since 46.

It helps if you never married or had kids.

Was never a problem for us with for kids. Just had to hold back on a lot of nice stuff until they were gone. May think I'm mean but once you move out your not moving back in.

The only thing about those naps your body gets use to it. If your not home at the time the nap time hits your brain you won't miss the nap.

Retirement is wonderful. I'm 61 & retired since May. I LOVE no alarm clock, get up whenever I want & do whatever I want or...….. do nothing. No stress. Life is good.

Question for anyone who retired early, what are you doing for health coverage?

Does your employer have any plan for retirees?

I was able to keep my coverage through the union for $3K/yr.
Since I was switched to Medicare a year ago, because I am disabled, that costs me $2100/year. The union is now my secondary insurance at no cost, so I will never pay a deductible.

Health share. I pay about $250 per month.
