Just thought i would chine in as my ZL1 is heavily modded with 712rwhp. Up until recently I've always used the no lift shift feature without any issues but can't recall if I've ever missed a shift while doing it either, guess I'm happy I didn't. What I would like to bring up is that I did notice a big difference in roll racing. Typically I would do a 30-60mph roll and at about 140+mph you can feel the car drop power noticeably and almost feel like it wasn't creating power anymore. Took it to the shop to see if maybe I was running out of fuel but everything checked out. Tried some runs without using the NLS and the car runs amazing and keeps pulling all the way through 140+. What I found was that the NLS was keeping the supercharger rpms to high for that long duration and at around 140+ my AITs were extremely high and my car would be heat soaked bad and pull timing. So I guess you could say my engine needed that little break between shifts. Now I'm no mechanic and I'm not super knowledgeable but that's what I could come up with and my experience with NLS.

Yea that's all I can think of, car was put on the dyno for a retune and everything was fine. The only thing we haven't done is run diagnostics when the loss of power occurs. That was my next step but not using the NLS seems to have fixed it.

Are you running an upper and lower pulley?

If you're asking me, yes I have an upper and lower pulley. Aftermarket heat exchanger as well but in the Texas heat not sure how much it helped.

That might explain it. IATs were probably not catching a break during NLS. Causing the ECM to pull timing. You might be a good candidate for that chiller system from Australia.

Heard some good things about it down here in Tampa for roll racing with maxed out IATs with upper/lower pulley setups. We have similar air. Hot

Chiller system? Got a link? I was considering meth injection if I run into the problem again.

Screw the chiller system. Go METH!! A lot of people don't want drugs on their Ride, but this will keep you cooler, give you more fuel and power. Just installed Meth and it changed my Ride completely.

Here is a thread on the chiller system just in case http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...hlight=Chiller

Thank you, are you on E85 already? I'm on E85 now and it's helped keep it running cooler as well. My cuz has a C7 Z06 on E85 and meth and he loves it. He runs the crap out of it with no heat issues so been thinking I'll go that route eventually as well.

Yes I have E-85 also. That's the setup you want with Meth. Your problems will be solved and your Car wlll feel like it picked up a 50 shot. Get some good rubber also.

I agree. I have Meth, heat exchanger, and an extra coolant reservoir. No problems with IAT2 heat whatsoever. Rarely goes above 100 degrees and if it does goes down quick afterwards.

Good post, I really didn't enjoy using NLS anyway cuz it didn't seem natural to me. Sounds like there is some risk it might cause problems. I have mods to support the higher red line, but still think I'll stick to regular shifting after reading all this.

Thanks.

My ZL1 is stock. I cannot figure out how use the no lift shift feature, as I've tried it in "Sport" mode and if I keep the foot on the gas the engine just wants to slam against the rev limiter!

We have no drag racing strips nor racing tracks in the country where I live (racing tracks were closed by referendum vote due to environmental concerns and very strict noise pollution laws), and getting caught means losing my driver's license, being convicted of a misdemeanor and fined around $1,000 USD, as well as the vehicle getting permanently confiscated on the spot, hence I have not done any of the PT mode shenanigans on the street.

My understanding from reading the owner's manual is that engine revolution matching is supposed to happen while no lift shift is being performed, but that is not taking place. I have purposely not tried it in PTM 5 because the owner's manual specifically states that none of the PT modes are recommended on the street and I still do not trust the vehicle enough to set it into PTM 5. Do I need to be in PTM 5 for no lift shift to work, or does it work in other modes as well?

Where do you live? NLS works in any mode as long as it's executed correctly.

It's simply a power shift, foot to the floor while shifting. Did it my first year of ownership, but after mods it ate the clutch fast. It's was a lot of work to,replace the clutch and flywheel so I quit it.
