DFW drivers...

This question is two-fold.

I need to put about 700 miles on Rogue over the next few of weeks. I also just like to drive. I am in Garland/Richardson area and was wondering if there are some nice places to drive.

Suggestions?

dallas to galveston is about 300 miles. so round trip about 600 miles. add in any miscellaneous driving and theres the 700 miles you need

I will have to think about that in the future - I didn't realize it was so close.

I already have chunks of time out of the next few weeks gone with business travel, I was hoping for a few side trips to help get the miles up.

Drive over to Marfa and check out the lights. Actually, I've been thinking about doing that too. I've been reading the Wierd Texas book and thinking about planning some local day/overnight type trips.

Dallas to Lubbock (lol for whatever reason) is ~350. If you take 114 there are some nice open roads and hills.

Snowtrill is actually a lady... just FYI!

I say a nice trip down to Austin, to check out the location of the new Formula One track that's being built. There's a nice 400+ mile round trip, and a nice place to go to!

Then a couple of trips too Keller to say hello, and you are done!

I am going to the laps for Charity and I really want her to be past 1500 miles before taking her out on the track.

I tried the pick a freeway last night and ended up in Red Oak last night. On the way back a couple of guys in a mustang GT kept trying to race me.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions - I figured out the google maps to the car last night so I'm going to go plug in some of the locations.

You've got a longer drive than me. Mine is about 65 round trip - but I also work from home most of the time so I only make that trip at most 3 times a week. This week it was once. Kinda funny, now that I have have a car that I love to drive, I work from home more often than not.

How about the backroads to Waco. We did that a few times last year while house hunting and before we had the Camaro. You can start off on I-35 west and get off at 67 and go west. Go though Glen Rose, Stevenville and Dublin. At Dublin you can catch hwy 6 east to come back to Hico, Meridian, Clifton and Waco. From there you have your choice on which way to go back, up I-35 or more back roads like 84 to either 14 or I-45 to go back trough Dallas.

It's not 700 miles, but its a day drive with varying speeds and nice views. You can also stop to eat at the Frog in CranFill Gap. We have eaten there twice and it was good. It's a biker place to stop and eat which we are also http://www.hornytoadbar.com/
