New GM warranty

Now that there is a new GM, will they still have all the things they were offering when you buy a GM like the 5 year powertrain warranty, depreciation protection and pay your car payments if you lose your job.

WASHINGTON — General Motors' bankruptcy filing Monday raises a number of questions for consumers. Here are some answers.

Q: Will I be under warranty if I buy a GM car during bankruptcy?

A: Yes. The company will continue to honor its warranties, and the federal government promises to backstop GM warranties on all purchases during the bankruptcy period. President Barack Obama urged Americans Monday to consider buying a GM vehicle, noting that warranties "will be safe and government-backed."

Fritz was on the Early Show this morning stating "We're open for business" and that GM itself got permission from the bankruptcy judge to honor and uphold ALL GM product warranties..............

i think that if you are in the market for a new car, GM dealers will be making some deals due to the consumer sediment and the 30% depreciation rumor.

i'm gonna look into a new truck, mines 6 months old! may be i can finally afford that GMC Sierra Denali.......

i dont mean the original car warranty, but the total confidence package warranty that was offered by GM last month (inlcudes 5 years powertrain, payment if you lose your job and buy back for car depretiation if you sell)

That promotion is over. http://www.gm.com/total-confidence/?...vanity_chevy_c

It was intended to keep buyers coming into the showroom until GM either entered bankruptcy or (through some miracle) managed to re-organize itself in 60 days and keep itself out of bankruptcy.

Either way, that program is done. Maybe we'll see something similar come back out once they exist bankruptcy but don't count on it.

That's interesting that the total confidence program is over and wasn't extended. You would think that they would have even more reason to offer it during bankrupcy.

At this point, when you buy a car, can GM provide written proof that the government (or an assigned third party) has legally underwritten the warranty?

I'm not worried. I've NEVER needed to use the warranty on ANY GM!
