Stronger hood strut ?

I have an aftermarket cowl hood which is slightly heavier than factory hoods so the stock hood strut doesn’t hold it up, and was wondering if there is a stronger hood strut out there ?

I don't think there are any out there "stronger" than the stock one. Most aftermarket hoods say not to use the strut. I have a heavy FG MPD Cowl Induction hood on my Camaro and after a while the original strut started to give some, so I replaced it with a brand new OEM strut and didn't have that issue anymore. Been about 6 years now..

There are web sites that specialize in lift struts and sell them by length, connection type/size and lifting strength. There may be something stronger available but the hard part will be determining what the stock strength is and then getting one that is strong enough without being too strong.

Yea, like I said, it was good for a while, then it just started slipping some, so I just replaced it, no more worries... Good luck..
