Is not that simple.... I'm 16 and this is against my parents will...a 2 hour drive isn't gonna help my dad say yes... they understand that it's a want and not a need... so they arent gonna go too far to help me..

In all fairness, dealers are in business to make money.

I would walk away from a dealer that asked more than advertised price for a car.

I know its hard, but don't let your emotions make this descision.

Like Kenny Rogers says...."you gotta know when to hold 'em....Know when to fold 'em....Know when to walk away.......And, know when to run.....

Its just that I hate the truck so much, I am crazy about Camaros... the opportunities around my town are alot smaller than what you all have.. to drive to where you all are, is likely to be a 3-4 hr drive.. then I gotta drive all the way back.. that's hard on a 16yr old... we arent as experienced and comfortable enough to drive 2 States away to get a car.... you understand?... :/

Dont get me wrong, I COMPLETELY see where you're coming from, and how you think I should do things... but there are only like 5 camaros in like a 100mi range from where im at, for under 24k... they just arent as commom here as a near those big towns like you all.. :(

Buddy, I understand.

And so does the dealer.....he saw you coming....he bent you over, and here you are trying to convince us it didn't feel that bad?

What more do you want to hear?

If you go to a dealership with the mood your in now they are going to take advantage of you severly. I know the feeling I was like that when I bought my first car. My advice to you is if the truck drives and works hold on to it until your 18 save some coin and go to the dealership ready to buy check in hand. Build your credit in these next two years and get your own financing apart from the dealer that way you go shopping and you have the check in hand you make the deal not them.

The credit isn't a problem...my mom will buy it, then pay off my mom.

What should I start as for the negotiation beginning price, and what should I settle for him coming down to?

I would just keep the truck. Let's say you actually can cover payments, but what about insurance and gas? That's another $500 a month at least on top of the car note. If you get a ticket or have an accident, then your insurance will be through the roof. Can you afford to fix it if something expensive breaks?

Also wondering what happens if God forbid you lose your job? I'm guessing your parents will make payments then? I would think about whether that would be fair to them.

I know this, but I do have a plan for it. It is basically in the same situation with the truck. Just without the payments to my mom for the car. And we are financially ok, 20k isnt going to break us.
