Digital TV Interference

So I am sitting here watching the Red Sox / Orioles game and every now and then the picture stutters and pixilates for a second or two. My daughter also notices this and says "I just sent a text message, do you think my phone is doing that?". I tell her I don't think so, but send another and let's see. Well the next few she sends, sure enough the tv does the same thing. We tried it on another channel but no problem. It only seems to happen with a live broadcast on a local cable channel.

Has anyone else experienced this or know why it happens?

Yep its caused by electrical signals interfering with the tuner in the tv. We used to have a tv where when our neighbor turned on his cb radio and someone would talk on it, our tv would create ghost images and merge specific channels. Like you it only happened on a couple specific channels.

Your local channel is picked up on an external antenna I'm guessing.

She's probably using a 800mhz signal close to your local stations frequency and your TV is receiving it thru the antenna..... Just like the above issue with CB radios.

Her signal is so weak tho, she probably has to be pretty close to the antenna. Does it do it if she's in her room?

My local channel is through the cable company coax and set top box. I will have to try it with the phone in another part of the house.
