I was using ls9s without issue. Made the switch to athenas on this lsx motor. Have never pushed coolant with either gasket.

Too aggressive of timing under peak tq?

Made the trip to jegs and replaced the flexplate. Wouldn't build boost at all no matter what I tried. Ended up being 2 rockers completely off and a couple loose ones. Car is back to 100% and will be at the rental tomorrow

Went to the track rental and the prep was the best I've ever ran the car on, hands down. Thing is just down on power. Pushing oil so bad now. About a quart a pass. We decided to not make any more passes and diagnose the crankcase issues.

Cylinder 6 is the culprit. Will do a leakdown and go from there. Thinking it's either washed cylinder walls or broken piston. Will keep yall posted

Cylinder 6 showing 90% leakage. Nothing out the exhaust or intake. Cylinder 8 was 18%. This was bone cold to boot so that Cylinder is healthy.

Ordered a new set of athena gaskets, now I just need to pull it apart to see the damage. Praying it's just a washed cylinder.

Can you post a couple pics of your surfaces when you get it apart I’d like to see how those gaskets imbed into the surface. I use SCE Titans on my other motors just wondering about these thanks Tommy

Got it out and leakdown on the whole motor. Have way more issues than previously thought. That piston it missing a good chunk of it. Cylinder 3 is just as bad on the leakdown so assuming the piston will look similar. Will get new pistons, punch it out and try again.

Will be sending the heads out to get redone as I've got some valve seal issues on multiple cylinders. You can see the hot spots in the chamber by the exhaust valve. Exactly why the chambers need softened.

Will be going solid roller and shaft mount rockers while it's apart to make it a more reliable unit as well. Probably going to be down the rest of the season

I’m sure they seal great but having to mill every time I pull the heads off doesn’t seem like it be a good idea with my luck may just go with the SCE I use to spray on top of a 17:1 motor never had a head gasket issue

The bore actually cleaned up. Pulled the whole short block apart and took everything to my local machine shop. The other machine shop had over bored the engine and had excessive ptw clearance and ring gaps. Top rings measured .035-.037 and second rings measured .044-.047. Called wiseco and they verified that was beyond excessive on ptw. Thinking oil caused the detonation that took the piston out.

Wiseco is going to make me a slightly oversized set so I don't have to punch it again. Going to have them hard anodize this set as well. Ordered a set of mgp aluminum rods to go in it as well. I'll get the shortblock together and save for the 5k of head work I'll need done.

Finally got the quote back from frankenstein. A bit steeper than I was expecting so I'll need to save the coin for that. Got with Ryan at gpi and he specd me a solid roller for it. Gonna sound wicked!
