No one was interested in GM until the Camaro came around and people are seeing it on the streets...it's a start...good to see that the "TOP 2" are American...TRUCKS!!!

Give it a couple of months on the road when people get to know what it is and then compare it to the Mustang and Challenger sales. As WYCamaro said, part of the sales strategy is to generate interest in Chevy cars and hopefully increase sales of Malibu's, etc. Its a signature car that's affordable compared to the Vette and will generate traffic.

Drive by a Ford dealership and look at what's parked up front in plain view.. Mustangs and F150s. the top seller and the signature car. Mustangs aren't in the top listings but they bring people in. Plus being reasonably priced they sell a ton too. I think the Camaro will do this for GM, and that's worth a lot more than its sales alone.

Wait for 3 weeks...after Transformers comes out...there will be more Camaro fanboys...just looking at the trailers alone...you can see it's all GM advertising. They even have some really cool scenes where Bumblebee kicks ass!

You have to consider the fact that the camaro is somewhat of a halo car. There are many people that won't buy a camaro, but it was the camaro that brought them into the showroom. Then they see another GM model that better suits their needs and buy it instead.

9,000 units a month is not a sales dud.

Not a shame to say so, but the first Transformers is what got me interested in this car. I am just so happy I have one now right before the sequel comes out. But yeah, it is going to create an even bigger frenzey because now the car is available, well available in some capacity, but you know what I mean.

And remember GM is in the hole on the camaro... It's gonna take a while for them to actually turn a real profit.
Give it time.

Driving a Malibu today while they buff the small blemishes off my car.
NOT impressed. :( That being said, I think before it's all over there will be a TON of LTs sold and it will be a very successful car. But it is not a 'common' car people will buy. It will NEVER outsell the rest of that list long term. It's too targeted but it wasn't meant to. Don't let the initial numbers fool you. |
