Lost my $1000 deposit.

I ordered my 2010 camaro from a N.J. chevy dealership on Feb 19th. I called every week to see if my status changed and I was told no. I got very frustrated and asked if I could cancel my order and get my 1ooo deposit back he said no problem. I recieved the check last week and deposited it in my account. Two days ago I was told by my bank that the check bounced. I went to the dealership and all the cars were gone and gates were chained closed, the place is deserted. I would appreciate if anyone can help.

File a complaint with the district attorney. It looks like you might have a class action lawsuit on your hands. You may be able to find other people who were screwed like this.

Have you tried calling GM? I would think that they are responsible for handling the affairs related to the dealerships that they closed. Try calling the customer service number.

Another 2010 Camaro horror story.... the new management needs to get on this type of thing ASAP.... or else lose loyal customers for life.

...........car dealerships suck.......... except for maybe a very select few honest ones

I'm not a lawyer but I'm thinking that since the dealership has closed, maybe all their assets have been frozen and the check wouldn't clear. It may be fine once everything is settled. For your sake, I sure hope so. But since you have a check, you have a legitimate case against the dealership. Good luck!

Yes I called GM customer service number and was told that they have no control over the dealership because it is a privately owned franchise. I was given a reference number and told that my case is documented but there is nothing they can do.

hope a 1000 dollars isnt important? thats about the dumbest thing ive ever heard seriously? i dunno about anyone here but a grand isnt exactly something i wouldnt mind just throwing away, of course its important, thats half of some peoples checks and a 100% of others checks.....
