and from the other side...happy with the v6,its fast enough to get as many speeding tickets as you want and quiet doing it.best thing is to test drive 6,8,SS,and SS/RS as well as a plane jane before you decide.

Bah, ha, ha! My guess is MOST of the V8ers here don't own a house and have kids, with a SS, to blow $$ on higher gas prices and 1000s in mods.

2013 LT convertible here in AZ & the V6 is plenty for me at 323HP. I upgraged from 08 Stang V6 coupe with 270HP. So I'm good. I'm 5' 10" and also have another ride too.

Since you have the Silverado, I'd go convertible, especially since you say the Vert possibility keeps biting you. Here's me in mine....top down.

I have 2 kids. One in college and the other one starting catholic high school in September at $9500/yr. I just LOVE that I still get to pay school taxes on top of that for a horrendous school district that I refuse to send my daughter to. How that all matters is beyond me. He's buying used, so he's at a price point and can certainly find a SS convertible in the $25k range.

Either way a manual transmission should be the only option.
V6 owner and totally gets it ^^^

... Take notes kids, get the BEST BANG for your buck! The American dream for so many is to own a V8 muscle car... and that is known all over the world as the Camaro SS (or Z/28 or ZL1 for the super fans). Why settle for less, when you can have more. When I mean more, I mean more quality... that includes quality of life too. So if you want a convertible, get one. If you can increase your budget to afford a V8, do it. You're going to have to live with this decision for the next decade, so make it a good one.

lol, Got your first bite Flipstyle.

I have a house, 2 young kids, an SS with mods and money to spend on gas and all my other toys. The price difference between used Camaros is so small it's really not a difference of incomes at this point. It's a difference of choice. I don't care for the V6 when I can buy the V8. The V8 isn't for everyone, same with the V6. So we can all piss in the wind, but we all just end up covered in urine. The OP just needs to drive both and figure out what he wants.

V8 and a Vert!!!
yeah, i own the house, the kids are gone, husband already retired (early at 57), and I will join him soon. Yeah, I put down a 50% and took the rest on at a very low interest. We will enjoy our V8 SS convertible for the next 20 years.

ps don't laugh, our boat hauler is a '99 Yukon still looking good!

GO FOR THE V8!!!
