MY mods?
I don't even HAVE a clutch, I'm just trying to get a thread together listing what has been seen to be "weak spots" on the Camaro so I can see what I should watch (and perhaps do a little preventative maintenance and upgrade before a break.)

for example oil pump failures are not common. the stock clutch is not that bad at all, people think they are bad. there are tons of guys running over 500HP+ with stock clutch. its all about how you drive. if you are at the drag a lot, then yes you will have problems. lol like 2 oil pump failures threads start up, and everyone goes crazy. plus i remember some of the problems the car is having is people modding them. and honestly i think its the bad installs + bad tunes +people getting the wrong parts. i keep reading about bad tunes, shop troubles etc. |

I completely get your point, I'm just askin' around. (Your Camaro is hotter than your buddy's Mustang, btw. Just saying.)

1. There is a TSB on the oil pump. So, it depends on what your definition of "common" is in order to apply your opinion effectively. Knowing that there's a TSB on the part and that it fails in a manner that will starve the engine of oil...well...'common' or not...the TSB alone is indicator enough that I'm going to swap the part out if it's a 'reasonable' cost. That's why I encourage people to swap it if they're already in changing the cam...at that point it's a 'cheap' part with a 'cheap' install. If it fails...then you're stuck with a pricey install...if you're fortunate like I was and the failure did not cause catastrophic damage. It could have also left me with a seized engine or worse...then it's not pricey...it's downright expensive. 2. Bad installs/Bad shops I can see your point...but you can't apply such a broad generalization effectively. The shop that did my work is top tier. My oil pump failed and my timing chain tensioner broke (which also could have caused catastrophic failure). Neither of these failures had anything to do with the shop that made the changes. I would agree that there are bad shops and bad tuners that will implement changes that would exacerbate stresses on parts and cause them to fail more quickly...but it's not the sole reason that we're seeing some of these failures.
