Blade spoiler removal

Just a quick question to anyone who may know.

Anyone know a safe way to remove the two pieces of the blade spoiler that are on the body?

I would start with some floss. Thought the ends were just double sided taped on by the dealers.

Careful use of a heat gun might make it a little easier.

The end caps are put on with two sided tape, but also some dealers are using a cement. You need to saw them off , but better than floss is #20 or 30 pound fishing braid line, be careful , it'll cut your fingers. Buy a medicine dropper and keep putting Googone on every 10 minutes for an hour , so it soaks into the center of it, then use the braid to saw it off.... I've done two of them, they can be a bitch.

Mine looked like absolute crap how the dealer mounted them. I sprayed some goo gone underneath and then used dental floss to cut through the double sided tape.

You getting a new trunk lid for the new spoiler due to the different mounting holes?

The thin double-sided tape is for positioning only. The official instructions also include sanding the paint to knock off the gloss (if the spoiler wasn’t installed on fresh paint at the factory), plus using adhesive promoter and special trim adhesive.

We just went through this for a guy with a standard SS who wanted to change to a 1LE spoiler. All the necessary holes for either type of spoiler are already drilled in the trunklid at the factory. The ends of the 1LE spoiler section that mounts to the trunklid even extend forward slightly to cover the holes from the original spoiler. And as described above, the end caps on the rear fenders are not just a peel-and-stick installation.

Cool.
Glad to see the job allows you time to make videos again, missed the content for a little while.
Hope the new position at work is going well.

If you get a chance could you weigh the trunk lid?
There's another member working on weight reduction and was looking for the weight of some stock parts, trunk lid included.

Thanks, and looking forward to next season to see how you and your car progress on the track.

It came early, now I have to wait to unwrap the presents. I'm not in any way mechanical and have to wait till my installer gets back into town (2weeks) for him to wrap the trunk, then put the stripes on it and put the wing on. The difficult part will be removing the two pieces of the blade spoiler that's on the body. That's why I'm not doing it myself.
