Where is the reverse lockout solenoid???

My 2012 Camaro ss manual won’t shift into reverse. No check engine I’m assuming it’s the reverse lockout solenoid I just don’t know where it is.

On the transmission. The tailshaft section near the shifter. There is the reverse lockout and the CAGs solenoids.

Does it not physically move into reverse? Is it grinding?

Doesn’t grind or anything like that when I shift into reverse there is a lot of resistance/have to push a little hard but once it’s in gear everything works normally. I’ve been using it like that for a while.

Could be a synchro starting to go bad.

Had the same issue it was a bitch to put in reverse. Make sure it’s plugged in all the way, my reverse lockout was a little loose.

if you changed the solenoid, and its hard to get in gear without grinding. then its further up the control circuit. I recall reading about the same problem you have on ls1tech forums with the same problem on the t56. look there. on my t56 back in the days of yor I had liberty's gears take the whole reverse syncro's out. that required the car to be at atotal dead stop before it would go in gear. that's what I wanted. you don't want it to in reverse while moving forward anyway.

It may be the reverse synchro or shift fork. I'm leaning towards synchro. Reverse is the only gear you're having trouble with? Do you do a lot of high speed 5th shifts?

The car only has 29000 miles so I doubt it’s an internal parts issue in the transmission

Mine had around 31000 miles when I rebuilt my trans. The synchros, especially 2nd, showed signs of wear. It can only be so many things...synchro, gear, shift fork, lockout solenoid, or something else internal. Remove the lockout solenoid completely and see if there is any change.
