Angry 8 days for cam install and tune... WTF?

8 days for cam install and tune... WTF?

Dropped my car off on Monday August 2nd for a VVT cam swap and tune. I was just told by the install shop that the car will NOT be ready until 11th. does this seem waaaaay to long to anyone else?

Mark your mileage with a camera phone lol... That what I would do, if I dropped my car off any shop, unless I really trusted them.

If they have all the parts, then YES!

sounds like you got bumped down in priority, maybe due to a larger (more profitable project) for the shop.

They claim the install is complete but, it still needs a tune **which will take 2-3 days**

It took 3 weeks to properly tune our car after a cam install. We didn't just get a "canned" tune that some shop downloaded into the car. My husband Darin, tuned our car after hours of getting data, making runs, and downloading tune after tune, until he got it to run perfectly. Most people have no idea how complicated tuning a car truly is.

I don't know anything about this shop you are going to. BUT it's not unrealistic for them to take more than a couple of days to get the tune right.

Maybe they work 2 hour days. It is summer time... :P J/K

All joking aside it doesn't really sound too unreasonable. If they are a real busy shop they may be booking to many people at once plus the install and tuning process does take time. Be happy they didn't say a day. Hopefully they use the days to really make sure it is tuned properly.

My last cam install took 3 days including dyno tuning/street tuning.

But some shops have several projects going at the same time (with only a couple workers). They do a little here and a little there. It ends up taking a long time. I used to go to a shop that was like that. They'd need my car for several days just to do headers and a tune? They were slow.
