*disregard! Found an EL Wire installation.*
Have any of you tried using EL Wire for this? I'm starting to look at what will be involved and have some vendor information coming in. At first glance, seems to me EL Wire will make this mod much easier.

EL Wire

Yes, I'm experimenting with strip, edge-lit leds from "SuperBright, and El Wire from Autolumination.com, but neither is working out the way I like it so far. The leds give "lumpy light, even when I double up the strips back to back so the edge-lit leds are only 1/4" apart (I've been able to match the GM "ice blue" color by using "warm white" edge-lit leds and a strip of blue/green theater lighting gel from GoKnight.com. But, I'm finding that the light just isn't a smooth enough line.)

Next I've been experimenting with the El Wire. First I tried their 5mm 1x brightness "white," which wasn't bright at all, so I ordered their 5mm 2x brightness "white." It still isn't very bright, but should work fine, but I'm having a hard time matching the "ice blue" color, since their "white" is more of a white-purple, but I will probably go this way if I can't find the original GM-style Tyco light tubes, which seem unavilable.

OMG, what an awesome DIY. I don't have the skill set to do all this though, darn it. Stupid girl..

It's too bad somebody doesn't take orders for this entire kit (start to finish) and just line up cars at Camaro5Fest III in Indy. I'd be in for sure.

Awesome job guys - way to go..

Has anyone tried to do this on a 2012 camaro? I tried getting the paneling off with the removal kit. I tried to get the instrument cluster part off and it came off easily.. just doesn't go back in 100% correctly. I'm wondering if I should bring it to a trusted shop and have them do it as I have no experience with modding cars?

This does work on a 2012 45th, correct? Sorry, I'm just really inexperienced

Also, is there a video anywhere with a tutorial on how to install this? :o

So I was researching more about the EL Wire I bought and I came across something that I think would possibly make this even easier. There is EL Tape. It looks just like a thin peice of plastic that is whatever colour you want it to be then when you put power to it the stuff glows. Just google EL Tape I found a few youtube vids of the stuff in action and it shows promise. I think this stuff is used by people who want to make costumes like in the movie Tron. They can use 4 AAA batteries to run the tape. I just can't find anyone that sells it in long enough strips, best I found was 18" and thats not even a door, maybe a sill? Anyone ever play with this stuff?

ok soooo. i read through most of this thread and two others and now my head just hurts. So mabey someone can help me out on this. I got my dash ABL installed but the gap is completely unacceptable to me, did anyone ever get the sanding/drill method to work properly ie: trim sits flush and sanded portion of trim(the beveled area) allows the light out? i attempted the no drill/no sand method and did not like it. i have already drill and that helped the gap but i want it gone. Any help would be great!
