Vinyl typically is cleaned off by soap and water. Anything extra will make spots and whatever else. I never had any issues from the time I had it, I plan on doing my ZL1 hood the same way...

Thumbs up

This is my hood today right after I washed the car. I had driven the car all week to work and it was dusty and the neighborhood tomcat had walked all over the hood. I had last applied protectant (Turtlewax Ice) two weeks ago. I recoated right after this pic and it looks fine, nice and matte black. You have to apply lightly two coats or so, let it dry mostly, and then with a fresh microfiber wipe off the excess.

Works for me! Good luck with yours!

Tara
