Which route should I go first?????
I'm now a proud owner of a zl1 and I have a few extra dollars to spend but I don't know which way to go! I'm thinking cai,headers,t-stat and custom exhaust or the lingenfelter 630 kit. Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm not looking for any set hp number so all suggestions are welcome.

Get the CAI first you will love the sound of the supercharger as this will make it just a little louder to hear. I waited and bought my higher HP kit from ADM in texas and it included all of which you are wanting plus they tuned my car after they installed all of the parts. If you do anything more than the CAI your car will have to be re-tuned. You should go for the 750hp package,it really wakes these cars up plus you have to be ready for all of those new hellcats that will be out prowling around!

Hands down, best bang for the buck is a pulley swap. There is nothing that will improve performance better than more boost.

I feel like that is just a solid, safe setup either way. 575ish to the wheels or 600ish to the wheels. those are both conservative numbers you would most likely be more than that.

I don't remember the reason but Ted at Jannetty Racing told me the t-stat is bad for this car.

GM states min operating temp of 185 that is why they come with a 185 stat. Engine Oil additives don't become active until 185 Fan setting can make the car run as cool as you you need. In a pure drag race application a 160 stat can be helpful so you can start your runs at as low a temp as possible. Not totally against a 160 stat but I don't see any benefit except for racing. This is one of those Supercharger VS Turbo debates that will never end. LOL Ted.

The mods for these cars are crazy....Find out what sort of budget you have to work with and go from there. There are several Forum Sponsors on here like Ted (Above) that actually do the mods or have package deals ready to sell and ship. They have extensive knowledge and testing done to know what works well with these cars. It all boils down to just how much power you want and how much cash you got to spend...

I have completed CAI, Kooks Header, Hiflow Cats, JRE Tune - This delivered 559 HP on the dyno I am just finishing install of my 18% pulley, ID850 injector swap and MSD fuel pump voltage booster and Catch can. Will tune with JRE tune and sort things out and then dyno next spring or summer. I am very happy with JRE and all of Ted's help along the way!
