Cant wait to see it done
Just for kicks, when it's done, I'm going to take it to the dealer for service. I can just see their faces..... wait, this isn't in the service manual |

/\ /\ /\ /\ To funny!
Quick update. Picked up some stuff from the powder coater I really like the difference in finishes, textures and contrast we have going here Received the Rad Rides remount terminal. The are going to get mounted on the rear bumper. Had NW send us the housing for another TB. The first one has a steel press pin which didn't allow us to disassemble it so we could vapor blast it and anodize. We will be posting it up for sale. We paid $610, the first $500 offer gets it. Folks wonder why it’s taken us so long to get G5.R done. Weill one reason is because we are not a shop and only have spare time. Secondly is we have literally built the car twice Here one example; the top half of the dry sump tank had to be custom made because the bungs on the shelf product weren’t where we needed them. Most shop would have just snake the hose and made it work. There’s no such thing as a bolt on part on G5.R. Spend about two hours yesterday at my buddies shop prepping the metal for our one off lower control arms. We’re going to try something a little different on the finishes. We are going to clear powder coat them. This will allow the colors from the weld to show. To prep the metal, we used 80 grit papers on the DA. This will allow the powder coating to stick. To remove the 80 grit scratches, we used red scotchbrite. The scratches are still there but you get a unified look. We are going to use 312 stainless welding rods. Stay tune to see how they come out. Took a few pictures of a trophies truck that being build at the shop. |

We stop by Sparco yesterday and picked up this wheel.
100% dry carbon. It weights next to nothing. This picture shows it without the suede. It’s almost a shame to cover it. One thing I didn't realize is all the work Sparco is involved in. They actually make the seats for they Veyron, Aventador, Koenigsegg, etc. They also supply Lamdo with a lot of their CF parts. I saw a Maserati diffuser which was off the hook. We have to go by there again. I'll make sure to take a bunch of pictures. |

Sneak peak at the flares. We went a different route on the Z/28 stuff. We had the molds made here instead of Seibon's factories. The guy who did the molds uses to work at Metal Crafter. They are the guys who build a lot of the OE's concept cars. This guy can literally do anything. The flares are too wobbly to make the as a standalone piece. By doing the molds here, we mount the flares to a car and pull the molds right off. This will insure proper fitment. The first sets were made from fiberglass for test fitment. These parts will be autoclave which will be top shelf! Stay tuned. Wish we could show more of the process but a lot of this work is trade secrets. We don’t want to train the competition, LOL |

Glad you guys are enjoying the car porn, LOL Keeps you out of trouble and I think it's cheaper Worked on the cooling system for the diff and trans. Doing all the mock up work. The idea is to have the return line lubricate the top of the gear. So we drilled and tap that exact location. We used the drain plug for the pickup line but it wasn't large enough for a - 8 line. So we had to drilled and tap a new hole. The other problem we had was the fitting was hitting the housing, so we could tighten it. So we had to mill enough clearance for it to clear and allow for a socket to fit. We replaced the bolts with ARP stubs. There's two nuts that had clearance issues. They are hitting the housing. No biggie………, nothing our trustee dremel can’t handle. In retrospect I think we are going to scrap the idea of using studs and just use bolts with safety wire instead. |

OK, stupid question here, because I've never dug into my diff, but I've got a question about your design. When the housing is filled with fluid, is the entire ring gear submerged, or it only a portion below the fluid return "bathed" in oil?
