Its over 3yrs old now from the day i got it and i'm pushing over 25k miles on it. Is it a keeper... for now in my mind yes even though I have out grown the power.

This!!! If the Chevy Gods hit another home run with the next ZL1/Z28...or whatever they decide to call it, I will be willing to part ways with my current baby.

Mil, fortunately for us, there is a recipe for lack of power-itis. We now have a wealth of knowledge at our fingertips just waiting for us to pull that trigger. I'm sure you have an idea which direction you're gonna point that gun to cure that itch

Here's a pic of one in my V6 Camaro on track days. I just moved this to the ZL1 but haven't taken picture of the FE in the ZL1 yet.

I've kept mine longer than most cars of this type. I do love it, but I like the gen 6 cars more. It will probably go down the road for one after a couple of years. I'm not buying anymore first model year cars. They always seem to be a fail for me. Look at the C7 vette. The long term test car of C&D's has been plagued with problems including a blown motor at 6,000 miles.

I don't think 450 hp vs. 580 hp is a match.
Even 200 lbs. less won't be close.

You'd be surprised just how close it could be. Don't think about just peak power, the lt1 is making power everywhere. Combined with the 8 speed auto, I think the new SS will be a low 12 second car. I've seen enough ZL1s at the track to know that another car running those times will give the ZL1s fits.

You could be right, but comparing the current ZL1 to the current Stingray times which is a considerable amount lighter, I think the current ZL1 will still exceed the upcoming Camaro SS. But who knows "TIME WILL TELL" But not getting away from the original post and topic. Yes I will keep at least one of my ZL1's just because of how close it was made to look like the original Camaro back in 1969.

I agree. I briefly considered a new BMW M3, which has a similar power to weight ratio of the Gen 6 SS, before buying my ZL1 and the BMW has very competitive times with the Z if you get the DCT transmission.

You may right and only time will tell.
Until then I'm keeping my ZL1 because I do think it's iconic and a keeper that will be for some time.

Yea no way the ZL1 has 130 hp on the new SS. I predict the new SS will do 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and the quarter mile in mid 12's. Not to mention the ZL1 looks amazing all around, no way I would get rid of it.
